megabass also made an Evoluzion Chimaera, with the same ratings i beleive, except the split grip, xdti, and Evoluzion look. But since i have the Evoluzion etna and the elseil, i figured i'd get something abit different.

Today I received my F5-69DG Chimaera.
But have a look at the lure weight! Itīs "3/8 - 1.1/4 oz." and not "3/8 - 1 oz." (this would be the lure weight you can see on megabass.co.jp).

I hope this is not an older model!
What do you think?

Not sure why it would be up to 1 1/4 ounce since the Diablo which is 5.5 weight was only up to 1 oz. Maybe they made some changes to make them thicker?

I wrote to plat where I bought this rod. He said, that there is no older version of this rod, because this is a brand new model.
I sent him also this picture today - he asked for this to ask the megabass company about the different lure weight. If I receive the answer of megabass I will let you know.

But donīt let us ask about the "lure weight mistake" Razz .... today I used this rod the first time with hardbaits from 3/8 Oz. up to 1 1/4 Oz.
And I have to say "THIS IS A GREAT GREAT ROD!!!!"

Okay, the light lures with 3/8 oz. are not really great to use with this rod, but 1/2 Oz. is really o.k.
3/4 and 1 oz. or even 1 1/4 oz. are really great to use on this very light rod.

This rod got everything I always wanted from the CYCLONE.
The Chimaera is also a very, very strong rod to fight bigger fish. Thatīs good, because I will use it for pike-fishing with crankbaits, jerkbaits and small swimbaits like Castaic Gizzard Shad.

I made some pictures - I will post it in "show and tell"...

Great glad you like it. I suspect the 1 and 1/4 oz rate is inline with a lot of the other Orochi offerings. The blanks a Hi-8X so it wont be as brittle as Hi-10X, I supose they reinforce it some how? Im not sure whats involved in Orochi blank designs, aesthetics aside. That should make a great larger jerkbait, heavy spinnerbait, light swimbait, and bigger (LC 3.5) crank rod.

I already said, that I tried this great rod yesterday for the first time.

At the moment Iīm using it with a Shimano Chronarch 101SF. But I donīt like the colour of this reel on this rod.

Now Iīm wondering myself which reel would be the best. It should be a "low profile". It should not be a shimano DC, because I donīt like itīs sound.

Iīm thinking about this reels:

- Daiwa Steez 100HL
- Daiwa bigbait-Z
- maybe Shimano Metanium Mg

I would use the reel with 16LB lono line for crankbaits, spinnerbaits and small swimbaits from 3/8 to 1 1/4 oz.

Which reel would you recommend?

Here is the answer from Mr. Ogawa:

"Megabass was connected with.
The catalog has mistaken.
1.1/4oz is right.

I am sorry was said having made you trouble.

I thought that what is necessary was just to also rewrite a homepage early if it is right.....
"

Very cool. I think it makes the rod even better that it can handle heavier weights.
