If the 80# test is gonna just use 8 strands then that will be one strand less compared to Performance Braid. :-k

I wonder if this "water repelling" will translate to less color fade/bleeding? That's what sucks so bad about Performance Braid is that the color bleaches out and gets everywhere.

Samurai Braid is the only braid that I have used that retains its color the best, and doesn't absorb much water at all, and doesn't get green everywhere.

They should really put four GORE threads instead of just one GORE thread to really prove it's worthiness.

I know that the ice braid doesn't bleed color at all. If it does, it's something that has eluded me.

I've never really had any bleeding problems with any braid....

soaking up water is my biggest concern, I hate when my reels get soaked because all the water braid
pulls in....

I can't wait to try this line

I am surprised at all the new braids that keep coming out. I thought that braid was more of a specialty line (frog fishing, punching grass). It seems a new braid is constantly coming out. For me, I have one rod with braid and that is it. I would love to use this new stuff because it sounds like the answer to all the braided line issues. Except visibility of course. I can't stand the sound of a leader knot flying through my guides so I am a fluoro/mono/copoly guy for most things. But the water repellent properties of this line is a huge step forward in braided line IMO.

I'm opposite of your opinion all my rods have braid with a Fluorocarbon leader, also if you use the right knot to attach leader you will not feel it while casting....
I would never go back to mono

It is not that I can feel it. It is the sound. I have to admit that I love the hooksets I get with braid. I have had two back surgeries and I just don't have the hooksetting power I used to.

This newest braid from Suffix (832 they are calling it) sounds good. I understand, however, that the so-called 832 number relates to 8 stands and 32 weaves (in an inch I guess) The point, I believe is that this new type braiding results in a tighter braid...maybe not so limp as some of the earlier braids. Then I hear that the heavier lines (55 lb test and over) are the only ones with the tighter 8 strands. Somebody check me out on that !
My only real problems with braid have had to do with using it over time in baitcasting ....mostly worm fishing:
a) It tends to become too limp and wrap-around (wind knots) can cause line breakage
b) the color fades to gray or whiteish and
c) the limpness tends to cause backlashes (or what is often referred to as "professional over run")
I am hoping this new Suffix 832 is going to solve some of these problems....but I may have to go to a heavier lb. test to do it. I'd prefer to use 20 or 30 lb. test.
I still have one question .....WHERE CAN I ORDER SOME OF THIS LINE........anybody know who has it NOW ??

That's a good point on the weave. It will be interesting to find out just how stiff this new braid is. I like how supple the Sufix Stretch braid is right off the spool. Of course, I only use braid on my spinning outfits for smallmouths, which is 90% of my fishing. The supple stuff works great on spinning reels.
