9" to 14" Worm Suggestions

Hello guys,

I am a big Roboworm fisher. Since they don't make worms in the larger sizes I would like to know what you guys are using.
How durable are the larger worms?
Are there any that float (tail)?
What are the weight of some of these larger worms?

Of these 3 rods which do think would be best suited for the larger worms....
703C Powell 10-17 1/4-3/4
702C Dobyns 8-14 3/16-5/8
CRC-70MH Crucial 10-20 1/4-1oz

The Kriet Tail worm from big bite baits is awesome, also the Yum Big Show paddle worm is pretty effective. As far as floating, I am not completely sure on those two, but it is pretty hard to argue with results!

Check out Upton worms. He's a Cali guy and sells through Anglers Marine. He has all the california classics like choco-blue vein and such and yes they do float. As far as weight I'm not sure.

as far as rods go the 703c powell or the crucial but i would not go with 702c
\i like the 10'' powerworms and i have heard nothing bad about Mann's jellyworms

with light sinkers and light cover maybe the crucial, for the worms i fish (in those sizes) with Yum Ribbontail and Berkley PowerWorm

Big Worms have been around for many years.

Plastics can be designed to float or sink.
This worm float slightly. putting a nail in the head or tail gives it completely different action.

They can be one of your best BIG FISH Baits.
This 14" Worm can be Wacky Rigged for best results.

LOVE my rage tail anacondas! IMO the best 10" worm on the market! VERY versatile worm, swim it, hope it, drag it, even buzz it on the top for some TOADS! Never use anything over 1/4 oz with them!

Check 'em out man, you can't go wrong!

IMO a Dobyns 703, or 733 would do better, stiffer is a little better IMO.

I've used Upton's 9" worms. They are very soft like Roboworms so they are not that durable. They do float.

the only two large plastic worms I use are a 10 inch berkley power worm preferably in blue fleck, and i also use the 10.5 zoom ole monster and i like the black emerald and blueberry in those.

Ribbon tail worms I'd say the power bait, gene salty snake or culprits..

Yamamoto Baits has a 10 Inch Cut tail and 12 Inch Curly tail. I fished the 10 cut tail in Mexican lakes with great success. Berkley 10 Power worm is also a killer for hogs.

In regards to what rod to get, I would suggest a heavy action rod. You don't need to impart a lot of action into a big worm like you would a smaller worm because it is more the profile and color that catches the fish and not the shaking of the rod. Most of the time I just drag it on the bottom with little action or shaking at all. A heavy rod is great for just that and most importantly, the rod will handle the bigger fish. I used to fish big worms on a medium rod, but I lost a lot of fish because I couldn't get good hook penetration or control of the fish. I tried medium heavy and lost a good fish because it rocked me pretty easily. I have since upgraded to a heavy rod and am glad I did! No longer do I lose fish or get poor hooksets. With a heavy rod you have the muscle to turn the fish and punch that big hook through their mouth with a single sweep.

If you ever want any big worms, shoot me a PM. I pour my own in a variety of different colors. As far as companies that make great big worms, 10" Berkley Power Worm is tough to beat in any conditions and the P Stix 10" Senko is a killer bait too!

Yea I think its pretty close to a senko size...Ill try and shoot a pi of it next to a senko..
I love those worms though and they are sick..

I LOVE the Strike King Anaconda. I wouldn't say it's particularly durable but that long ribbon tail gives it a lot of action while still being relatively subtle. Gives it a big profile too. Love it.
