How do carbontex washers compare to regular CF Abu washers?

Postby taylor5877 » Fri Oct 30, 2009 10:53 am

just curious. I'm about to order a set for my ancient 5001c (which I know they will make a huge difference in), but I was wondering if replacing a couple of the washers in another of my abu reels (since the set I'm buying comes with 4 but I only need 2 in the 5001c) would make a bit of noticeable difference.

I have had a look at the carbon drag washers in my Abu Revo Inshore, can't really tell any difference between them and Carbontex ones? :-k
Will replace the one non-carbon washer (see Alan Tani's excellent =D> tutorial on Revo Inshore rebuild in sticky at top of this forum) at the bottom of drag stack.
Anybody swopped all their stock carbon ones with Carbontex?

I believe they are very similar because I never see them advertised for Revos, probably not worth doing.

Carbontex are thicker than the Abu Carbon Matrix washers. If you took two of the abu carbon washers and glued them together, you'd have about the same thickness. Therefore you'll have more drag pressure. I did this for my Revo Premier and Skt Reese and it's definitely noticeable.
