hello,
can I replace the main gear and pinion of Shimano Scorpion 1001 using the curado 101D main gear?

Yes you can use the gear set from the Curado 101D or 101B if you want to use brass gearing.

hello, thanks a lot.

P.S. is the main gear of curado 101D brass or alloy?

It uses aluminum. The 101B model uses brass.

hi, thanks.
i used to think also the cu 101d uses brass, but now i could think to use alluminium in servicing the scorpion,( that now is a little noisy in reeling.

The Scorpion used brass from the factory I believe.

hi,
yes the scorpio has brass gears.

i replaced last week the main and pinion gear with the alloy one for curado 101d .
now it works great, completly solved the roughness of the old gear( i think i used for 4 years and, even they don't seem used, they had become noisy end rought during rotation).

i noticed that also metanium xt and metanium mg7 have alloy gear. the metanium works great from 2006 and i hope the new equipment for scorpion will last the same!

also the drag seems more efficient than brass, could it be?

The drag performance should not be any different with the brass or aluminum gear.

in that case ,
it will probably due to a good cleaning and greasing after service and replacing.
