There was a Dual Pro 3 bank charger in the For Sale Section of the forum not long ago. It not only was a conventional charger, but also had "Charge on the Run" built into it, so trolling motor batteries would be topped off from the big engine. I sure like the ones I have in my two boats!

haha - that was mine. Just found this thread cruising around in forums I don't normally frequent.

I needed to upgrade from that charger since I went from a 24V to 36V trolling motor. I was gonna get a 4 bank Dual Pro. After doing a bunch of reading, I ended up going to a 'Stealth 1' system. The systems main component is a DC. Easiest way to describe it is as a battery charger that works off of DC current. There is also a AC component to keep the batteries topped off while in storage. The website http://www.stealth1charging.com/isn't flashy but has some good info on it. So far, it has worked really well. :D

After 1 dual pro, and a Pro Mariner killing my batteries, and never getting them to full charge, i'm through with on board chargers. :talk hand:

After using pro mariners which are sold by cabelas and bass pro and having them both fail a little after a year I did some research and found dual pro to be the best. Just do a search on bbc

Just curious, how was it that charger was draining your batteries?

I've got an issue with my cranker going dead after a week..trying to run down the problem. Asked a couple of mechanics if they thought my charger could be draining one battery (charger is used to charge only..the disconnected during the week storage)...they said there is no way it should.

I've been using a Bass Pro Shop XPS i series 5/5/5 three bank charger on my boat for over a year now and am very happy with it. It has transfer-on-demand so charging time is optimized. I leave it plugged in all the time when I'm not on the water - including all winter. The only thing that I do is check the battery water every couple of months and keep the battery terminals clean. IMO it is a fantastic value at $150.

I had the same issue til I figured out that the master power switch didn't shut off the clock. That little sucker would drain my start battery in about a week. It only took me a season of cussing to figure it out.

Interesting...my boat is pretty bare-bones. No clocks, stereos, auto bilge pumps..depth finder is disconnted when parked. .nothing but straight panel gauges and pump and light switches. If a switch is on..it lights "red".

Funny..noticed when I shut motor off and left key in Ignition..the speedo needle dropped to 20 MPH and stayed there...pulled key out and it still stayed there..inserted key..turned it to power gauges and get the "Beep" and shut it off and pulled key, all needles dropped to zero. Starting to wonder if that may be my power drain if I leave the key in the ignition after initial shut down :-k :?: :?:

Boats can really be a PITA sometime

I have a Dual Pro 2 bank that I just took off of my boat. Is is still like new and works great but my cousin gave me a new Pro Mariner 3 bank. So I switched them out and so far the Pro Mariner has been great and weighs alot less than the Dual Pro.

I had a Dual Pro 3x10 on my old Nitro and it worked flawlessly. Got a 2 bank Guest on my new Nitro, didnt like it and upgraded to a Minn Kota MK315. Happy with the Min Kota so far.

I just bought a Minn Kota MK-220 earlier this year to charge my two deka trolling motor batteries. It does an excellent job of recharging, takes about 4-5 hours to fully charge the batteries. Usually only takes about 3 hours after a day of fishing to charge them back up.
