Humminbird si 900 vs 1100

Humminbird si 900 vs 1100

Postby joeim8 » Mon Jul 05, 2010 3:10 pm

Hello all,

Looking to purchase a new unit.
Anyone have any info or opinions on which unit is better for the money between the HB SI 900 or 1100?
How about the 800?

I fish Erie mostly but also a lot of Ohio inland lakes.

Thanks

I can't tell you much about the 800 or the 1100... But i do own 2 957c's and a 997c. I picked 2 8" versions over one 11" because with humminbird, you can't have more than two modes displayed at once(except for the new down imaging). I mounted two 900's at my dash and run them as fallows.

When driving at speed:
I run full screen map on the 997 because the si transducer doesn't like speed very much and full screen sonar on my 957. this gives me a large screen map which is nice trying to keep my boat safe in the dangerous St. Lawarence river.

When exploring or trolling:
I run split map/sonar on the 957 and split SI/DI on the 997.

It might cost a little more, but the redundency is worth it. I don't think you can go wrong with any humminbird product. Thier service is second to none, and they're really easy to use.

I think I'd prefer two 700's over one 1100 any day. just remember the interlink if you choose to buy two units.
