Re: My new custom painted lures
I'm not so sure about the feathered hooks, but the paint looks nice.

Re: My Starter Kit...
Here is my starter kit. Rest assured that all of these reels sit on either Megabass, G.Loomis, or Dobyns rods. So there is no Daiwa reels on Shimano rods blasphemy occuring. Daiwa on a G. Shimloomis rod is slightly blasphemous. ;) Very nice collection, it looks like you have put a lot of effo...

Re: Best/Favorite fishfinder under $1200.00?
Two Elite 7's, one regular for navigation and one DSI for down imaging and fish finding.
Adding a Lowrance Insight Chip to one would be awesome, I am really impressed by Lowrance's lake chip. All the United States plus border waters is awesome for only one chip.

It's related to fishing because I can't go fishing right now.mhood wrote:I moved this one to Everything Else because it wasn't fishing related.

Re: Fishing is bad, so I modded my old Ruger.
Oh she's purdy! I love 10/22's. By far one of the coolest guns out there. Tons of inexpensive (& expensive) aftermarket parts, cheap to shoot, and they just keep on going. As for mini 14's (and the 5.56/.223 round in general), not a fan. 7.62x51 is your friend :) Thanks a lot :D 10/22's and AR15's ...

Re: Fishing is bad, so I modded my old Ruger.
Very nice work you did here brotha! Another rifle I would look into if I were you is the .17 HMR. I have the Savage Arms model 93R17 BTVS and it is absolutely amazing. Stainless steel bull barrel and beautiful wood laminate thumb hole stock. I've got a Nikon Monarch UCC 3-9x40 on it and can get 1-1...

Re: Fishing is bad, so I modded my old Ruger.
Thanks guys, I put a lot of effort into it and support makes me feel good about it. The Mini-14 is among my favorite "fun" shooting rifles. Deadly accurate right out of the box, too. The Mini 14 is on my radar for my next rifle. I realized I forgot to say that is is a ruger 10/22. I will edit the or...

Fishing is bad, so I modded my old Ruger.
I know this is a fishing forum but since most of us are sportsmen I figure this might interest some of you. I hope I'm not breaking any rules. I will start with some info on the gun. It's a Early 2000's Ruger 10/22, with an 18" barrel. I received my 10/22 as a birthday present about a year before I ...

Re: Shimano Stella or Stradic ci4
Hmmm...I don't necessarily know if the internals and materials of the gears, etc. in a Stella is shared with the Sustain and Stradic? Maybe among some of the JDMs, but USDM? I agree with dragon, the Stella is a unique beast. Normal Shimano= Brass pinion on brass main gear. Stradic/Sustain= Brass pi...

Re: Need info on St Croix Eyecon spinning rod
While I haven't fishing a Eyecon I used a Triumph for two seasons with no signs of wear on the guides. I used braided line and use it a lot. I never had a problem with it. Sensitivity was pretty good and so was the action. Eyecons aren't a bad but I would consider a Fenwick Elite Tech Walleye rod fo...

Re: Need info on St Croix Eyecon spinning rod
The avid is the better rod and worth the money in my eyes.
The Triumph, Premier and Eyecon are built on the same blank with the eyecon having a few unique tapers and lenths.
The Avid is a better blank and you can really tell the difference.

Re: Your most versatile reel
153 HSTA Strong gear ratio, can burn and has a lot of power. Casts lighter weights relatively well and can practically launch a big lure into space. I have a 153 HSTLA. It's a great reel, to bad I have small hands. I only use it for jigging. To bulky and heavy to wing baits all day long. I'm actual...

Re: Double vs Single handle spinning reel
Pro's of double handle.
Balance, no wobble.
Ease of use maybe.
Unique.
Con's.
Heavy.
Some people might fight them awkward but I can't see why.
