They are rated medium for the 5' and ML for the 4'6" I bought one for my (rather short) sister. She has problems with rod butts being too long and being uncomfortable for fishing. I'll second Keen. Three years wearing the same sandals, no smell. You do occasionally have to clean the foot bed out, which only takes some water and scrubbing.

Differences in u/l actions
I am thinking about picking up a St Ctoix Avid 7' rod. I see it comes in fast and moderate. I know for heavier rods there is a large difference, is this as true in ultralight rods? Anyone have both of these to give an opinion? Thanks!

Considering your criteria, you should go on cabelas website and do a search for 596 c di. Doubt you will beat that price, even without the rebate.

A lot of fisherman (forget the average person) have not even HEARD of the brand Pflueger.
Yeah, its such a novel brand that their products are only sold in high expense boutiques... you know, Walmart.
