Re: Anyone use the Bone Combat Beast or Black River rods?

Hold up. You can put Zillion gears in a Steez?? Does that mean you can put Steez gears in a Zillion??? Can I get a set of 8.1's for my Zillion SV 7.3???? And then put those 7.3's in the 6.3 I have on my TW rod?????????? OG zillion/sv103 gears do fit the ss sv/steez platform but you need to use a zi...

Re: Alphas air stream custom

Nice looking slabs!

I had an sv105 5.8 ratio and it was super smooth as well, complete butter when under load with small cranks. I'll have to throw one of my 03 original floaters on my scale to see what the actual weight is.

Oops, I misread, thought he said Japan Tackle. At this point, the only thing keeping me out of glasses is my pride.

They recently had national holidays for over week in Japan. Sometimes, rods get hung up in customs, for reasons unknown. Just email Jun and inquire about the rod's whereabouts. They are usually very quick to respond to any emails received.
Jun is japan tackle, Kazu is jpangler :D

Re: Two versions of 16 Aldebaran BFS? Cost of additional spools?

Ill bet the 30mm ct ktf spool will be well under 7g and closer to around 5g. The avail aldebaran spool weighs 4.75g with bearing so im guessing the 30mm spool should be near that. The stock steez ct sv spool weighs 9.38g with factory bearing on my scale and exceeded my expectations on both control a...

Re: (SUL) Super Ultra Light?

The ASC has less capacity than the aldebaran bfs so if the aldebaran seems too bfs specific the ASC will also follow suite. The alphas ct will handle 3g so if that's as low as you plan on going it will be just fine. Once bfs specific spools come out for the 30mm ct spool I believe they will be the n...

Re: Two versions of 16 Aldebaran BFS? Cost of additional spools?

Yes ratio is the only difference 6.5 vs 8.0 between the two.

Spare oem spools are around $130 but you can get aftermarket spools which cast ultralight lures even better for around $100.

Re: Shimano Curado Type J

I looks similar to the Engetsu reels. They have shallow strong (heavy) spools for jigging bays with braid. I have a Scorpion 70 based Engetsu with micro mod gears. It's a neat little reel. It has a clicking drag too. How is it for casting? What kind of baits/weight are you casting with it? What kin...

Re: (SUL) Super Ultra Light?

I have or have had all the Daiwa and Shimano reels in this discussion. Out of the box the alphas asc is an excellent caster just as good if not slightly better than the aldebaran bfs stock for stock with lightweight lures. The bearing on the spool of the ASC is very heavy, skewing the spool weight b...

Re: Squeal during hard cast

It could very well be a bearing as well. As the bearing wears and tolerances open up. it will get more noisy especially when loaded with a heavy cast. I like to add a little oil the spool bearings to see if the noise changes, if it does you've found the source.

Re: 2019 Steez CT SV and 2019 Alpha CT SV

How does the Alpha CT SV compare to an alphas air or an alphas/sol reel with a cosugi works spool in it? Alphas air will cast lighter lures with more control than the ct but its very close to the cosugi spool with lightweights even though the cosugi (with air bfs bearing) is 2g lighter than the ct ...

Re: OG tatula vs New tatula rod

Yes, but I use it more for senkos, finesse jigs, and light texas rigs. It's great for dead sticking 5.8 and 6.8 flick shakes. Daiwa needs to bring this rod or an equivalent ... ie Steez Harrier-Finesse to pair with the new Steez ct sv If I get an Alphas CT, and let's be honest, I will, that rod is ...
