Re: Alphas finesse spools

With the bearing and rotor the ktf v2 spool is actually around 8.8g. Cosugi works is 7.75g with bearing. The alphas has a few options, you can cheap out and grab a rays spool and they are pretty light as well. Or you can use spacers and put in a 32mm air spool or go down to the 31mm air stream custo...

Re: BFS and Trout baitcast combos

If you are looking to build a regular action perch rod, The Phenix Mirage series is pretty nice. If you use braid, you get nice hooksets and the rod has plenty of give as well. It is a really tough blank as well, I have boat flipped big bluegill and also caught plenty of 24in+ pike on it without an...

Re: BFS and Trout baitcast combos

Yes, action is accurately rated and they are fun to use. I use them for big perch. A couple of years ago, I looked far and wide for the XUL, which - as you know - is (was) supposed to be regular action. Now I consider going custom unless this thread or TT reveals a gem :D If you are looking to buil...

I had a different SS AIR a couple years ago and its rotor twisted

Mine was this way too "twisted", the air brake system.

Re: St Croix Legend & Avid

I've never had any issues with any st croix rod, and if I did they have a great warranty and customer service. The SC3, 4, and 5 blanks have held up to anything I've thrown at them. I see you go from the SC3 avid blank to the SC5 legend x but skip the SC4 legend tournament line. Those may be worth l...

Re: Daiwa Reel

Whats your definition of light lures? 1/8, 1/16, 1/32? The air stream custom would be the best bet for the lightest lures but if you plan on casting 1/8oz range the alphas air or sv light may be a better option.

That is awesome! Does it perform as well as it looks?

Haven't tested it with the SV but with the cosugi it works wonderfully.

Re: Phenix Feather Light

1/8oz the stock spool can handle. The spool thats in the reel is the alphas air stream custom spool. The spool can cast even lighter than 1/16 but the rod wont load with that light of a weight.
