Re: 20 Metanium vs Chronarch 51mg or 101D7 casting?

So do people now like SVS more than VBS? I'm old and stubborn; so change isn't always a good thing. The new Met seems to check all boxes I would want though. Rick The newest version of svs (all the mgl spools) is very nice. I just turn on all 4 and adjust with the dial like a daiwa. It covers short...

Re: Board Sponsor Shout Out ...

The guys at TTT are fantastic, they always go out of their way to help you out. Everything is shipped quickly when I go that route but being within driving distance lets me go tinker and I end up spending even more $.

Re: "older" shimano casting reels

My old calcutta 50 had 16 years of hard use on it before I sold it and it was still as smooth as when I bought it.

Re: MGL

I’ve had both. The MGL spool is a step up in all models. Distance and forgiveness are improved with the MGL and the MGL tolerates shifting wind conditions better.

Re: Truck Wars!!! Reel BattLes

Thus far I've seen Nissan Leaf's in both series, Holden (Chev) Volts, Toyoda Prius's and your Tesla's and they're gaining popularity and lots of them are getting around the Gold Coast. The centre of the city has more of the glamorous care, but where I am north of the city its a bit more sedate... W...

I have 3 main hobbies, fishing/tackle, hunting/guns and cars/hotrodding. Remove one and the other two will grow.

Re: Avail microcast spool

For $100 bucks id keep the 15, its a great little reel. The mgl is a bit easier to dial in and a bit less finicky but its not that big of a difference to justify the cost of a new reel. Either would handle the weight range you're looking to use with the stock spool. But if you're like me curiosity w...

Re: Truck Wars!!! Reel BattLes

I think the most complicated things on the big diesels is the emissions systems now, EGR, SCR, DEF and various particulate filters causing the price and complexity to continue to rise and more problems to have to deal with later on down the road. Just give me the old 5.9 cummins 12 valve or 7.3 powe...

Re: Truck Wars!!! Reel BattLes

If people will keep buying it I'm sure they will keep raising the bar. Shoot look at diesel power in the last 20 years, and it has doubled just in factory form. The price of vehicles has also doubled in the past 20 years. I say as long as you can keep it reliable and people keep buying it why stop?

Nice review, I've been tempted numerous times by Abu's JDM lineup but have yet to pull the trigger on anything.

Re: Daiwa Air Stream Custom Problems

6lb mono shouldn’t be able to squeeze through there. The gap between my spool and frame was between.005-.006” iirc. Most 6lb mono is around .009-.010” in diameter so you’re gap would be at least .010” to allow 6lb line through there. That seems overly excessive. Do you have the stock ASC spool in th...
