Re: Nrx spinning rod help
I would prefer the LE, I have the 6'6" but the 7' would be just as sweet with maybe a little slower tip than the 6'6" like capesmallie referred to the 872 and 852, not sure as I haven't fished the 7' version.

Re: No more Lifetime Warranty- Shimano Rods
You both are right about the choices, I have no doubt there will never be a rod, a material, a length whatever that everyone likes, or everyone is willing to use. The thing about having the luxury of choice is, like I said far to many are not willing to let us have it "our way" in most cases the y a...

Re: No more Lifetime Warranty- Shimano Rods
Since the conversation turned to likes/dislikes & opinions... I haven't been even remotely interested in a Shimano rod since the Cumulus. Almost pulled the trigger a few times on an NRX but... i refuse to settle for recoil guides at that price point(and split grips, but mostly the recoils). Ordered...

Re: No more Lifetime Warranty- Shimano Rods
If you think I am not aware of the rods Loomis is putting out you are far from correct, as a Charter owner and a Licensed guide with over 400 charters in my marina alone, we gladly share everything amongst us, from hot spots to gear! I don't have to buy it to fish it, I would also venture to believe...

Re: Your Next Rod Purchase?
Well I just got done having a 6'6" Legend Elite in MLF built my way, and it came out better than anything I could have imagined. Now I have a new Ci4+ 1000FA trying to get out of it's box sitting in the closet, after 2 months deciding the best rod for it, I am going to go with a 6'6" Avid LF with pr...

Re: No more Lifetime Warranty- Shimano Rods
There are many companies that excel with a certain product and rely on fan base to drive their other products. Shimano will always make my Spinning reels as long as they keep building the best spinning reels made, but 15 years ago I bought my last G. Loomis, St. Croix will and have built the best ro...

Re: Finesse Rod med or med hvy?
for finesse I I prefer the Med over a Med Heavy, but for good hookset's or fishing deeper water whichever I am using I want and Extra Fast action! MXF is what I use.

Re: Opinion on best rod choice
FYI, went with a St. Croix Avid 6'6" MHF. Feels nice. Haven't fished it yet, though. After buying, looked at St. Croix website and they said one of best reels to match the rod is the Tournament Pro, so I guessed pretty well! The the St. Croix Avid is a great rod and what I have a Tournament Pro on ...

Re: Lews BB1 vs speed spool. What's the difference?
Lews makes many speed spool reels, if it is a baitcast reel with Lew's on it, it is a speed spool. I will take it you are referring to the small frame reels, and the BB1and Super Duty, medium framed reels, Most all of the Tournament and Team reels are are small frame, the BB1 series and the Super Du...

Re: Who is the sensitivity king for 2014?
Hands down St. Croix Legend Elite, Extreme is as sensitive just hate the handle, the NRX is right there with them, and like the handle better than the Extreme, but the Elite beats em both in that department. Forget the GLX when you say MOST SENSITIVE , it's good but nowhere even close to these three...

Re: Legend Elite Brown?
I picked up a Legend Elite brown 66mf spinning rod 2 weeks ago off a guy from craigslist for $180. These babies are hard to come across nowadays. I love it so much that I ordered a couple more elites direct from St Croix. To me they have the most comfortable reel seats. I only fish avids and elites...

Now, maybe when I upgrade the handle on the ci4, the Curado will get that handle and the bearings will make it a little more awesome!

Re: Lew's VS Shimano
3 years ago I was 100% Shimano, spinning and casting, and had been that way for about 15 to 20 years, every since the speedmaster and super speedmaster era. I tried a lot of spinning reel and baitcasting reels in that time. I service reels and also test all I service, so I have used most on a rod i...

Like I said,,,,,very uninformed the difference between been there, only one who has owned both would know there is an obvious difference, those that don't well,,,,,typical internet wizards and keyboard cowboy's!!!!
