most desired is bagley's small fry in tiger stripe, shallow for streams/creeks. 2nd place any color of Renosky Guido's Double Image.

wet scorpion dc reel

had a problem today. small boat, too many outfits, inattention/distraction. scorpion dc 100hg had to be fished out of the water. still works fine. do i need to disassemble/dry it?

Re: Rod broken on arrival

i've only had great experiences with ALF. in this case a few bad apples doesn't spoil the barrel. i KNOW what happens in the transportation industry. 99.9% fine but the bad deals are the big black spot on a white canvas.

Re: I've always loved a nice Cardinal 3

well, you'll never need to upgrade now. AFAIC Zebco/abu cardinals 3 and 4 are the bee's knees. 6's maybe a bit heavy compared to some recent reels. but 3's and 4's hit the spot.

vises for hand tied jigs

i'd look at a Dyna-King Kingfisher Fly Tying Vise, renzetti saltwater traveler, maybe a peak or a mongoose. lots to choose from. i have a danvise but prefer my mongoose odyssey.
kevlar thread is available for wrapping but is strong enough to cut thru rubber strands if torqued down too much.

Re: Shimano reel names

i have never been willing to spend some of my time to decipher the ingenuity of the C14+ moniker. i do have 2 stradics, both 2000's of some series.

Re: I don't use spinning gear at all. Do you?

i use whatever seems appropo: casting, spinning, fly. i'm willing to throw an old black Zebco 33 i grabbed a while back or even my abu matic 170. i've even trolled. quality is my deciding factor. i don't like cheap or poorly designed gear.
