Re: Best blank for A-rig and swimbaits
I built mine using a Phenix 800H swim bait blank it's raited to 8oz. I don't throw big swim baits but use it for A-rigs I like it a lot.

Re: Best way to spool up a spinning reel
I bought a extra main shaft for my spinning reels and put the shaft in a drill put the spool on the shaft tighten the drag nut and spool line on exactly like it comes off the line spool and there is ZERO line twist on the spool.

Re: phenix ulmbx vs mhx hm blanks
I have built a MHX HM mh casting rod a MBX h casting rod and a MBX mh spinning rod all around 7' that's as close a comparison as I can honestly make. To me the mbx is a little more sensative and is also more expensive is it enuff differance to warrant the extra $25 to $35 dollars to me it is. And ye...

Re: Best LMB replica?
They are arp 3D blanks but that doesn't make up for the poor painting and lack up customer service!

Re: Best LMB replica?
I am a victim of fish scale taxadermy also. He charged my credit card for the balance and didn't even contact me. Do these look anything alike? The belly is very white on the replica. The photos on his website look great but the actual replicas you recive are far from that quality.

Re: microwave guides hype or not
curious if anyone has used bigger spooled reels (like daiwa 2500/3000 size). honestly the 2000 size reels are pretty small that "taming" is probably not as necessary as those reels are pretty forgiving. I am a proponent of using large spool sizes for spinning reels as they have much less line twist...

Re: Choose your frog weapon
I use that MHX blank for my frog rod and I love it. I used it to throw a alabama rig til I built a rod just for that this year . Cought many 7 and 8lb frog fish with it and it never felt under powered and it's light enuff to throw a frog all day.

Thanks a bunch mattman. Is the wrap on the ferrules for strength or just looks and the alignment marks?

Travel blank?
I have built several rods but never a multi piece blank. I thought about building a 7' or 7'6" light action spinning rod for bream fishing and use a travel rod blank or a multi piece fly rod blank that I could keep in my truck to show people when they ask about some of the rods I built. If I buy a t...
