Re: Loud Topwater Walkers
To my ears, the Rapala Skitter Walk is much louder than the equivalent-sized Super Spook Jr you referenced as your go-to walking bait...

Re: G. Loomis E6X MBR843c
In my hands, I prefer the E6X across the board over both GL2 or GL3. this seems to be the general consensus and yet they retail for LESS than either. That's very interesting as I was really curious where E6X fell in the Loomis graphite spectrum. I'm curious as to how this line feels in the hand--ev...

Re: G. Loomis E6X MBR843c
So where does E6X graphite fall within Loomis' various lines of graphite in terms of weight and sensitivity? Somewhere between GL2 and GL3?

Re: What Ever Happen To Quantum?
At one time you could probably say they where part of the big three Shimano, Daiwa, Quantum I don't think they were ever considered part of a "big three." I'd consider Shimano, Daiwa and ABU to be the big three. To me, Quantum has always been a second tier manufacturer. They did make an effort to b...

Re: G.Loomis E6X
I had the 843 E6. In my opinion it's not worth $189. My mom and pop had them for $139. That's about what they could move them out the door for. Now that the full cork Classic is out, it sells better. They are simply OK. NOT GREAT, not bad. It was first relegated to the Rod rack; and later sold. I r...

Re: Do you still fish a med 6'6 fast rod?
I still have several each of the old school MBR782 and MBR783 rods that only get used when float tubing (relegated to second string by MBR842/843 and other longer Dobyns models). The MBR784 gets used when tubing the Delta and other heavy cover tube trips. I like 6'6" rods for float tubing or for rol...

Re: Shimano baitcaster handles
Be a purist and keep the rosewood--that's one of the Bantam 100's distinctions! Agreed, I fish mine stock minus the carbontex drag. Planning to have a rod built for it as well. :big grin: Excellent! Please post a pic after it's built. I've been wanting to do the same--I'd love to have a retro looki...

Re: Replacement Treble Hooks for Lucky Craft Pointer 100SP
For the 100SP I've always used Owner ST-36s in size 4 without any effect to lure action. For the 100SPs I use for striped bass, size 4 ST-41s with no. 3 Hyper Wire split rings work well. I don't think the 100SP is that sensitive to small changes in hardware.

Re: Alternatives to Strike King Mini King
I haven't tried them yet but I just picked up a few Bomber Mini Whackers on clearance from Wally World for $1.00 each. They're 1/6 ounce, slightly larger than the 1/8 ounce SK Mini King.

Re: Return of the Fenwick Golden Wing?
I had a medium light powered Golden Wing rod around the 2001 timeframe--it was one of my favorite finesse rods. I broke it after the series was discontinued and Fenwick replaced it with a HMX or some other rod and it was nowhere near as good as the Golden Wing. I'll be curious as to how the "new" Go...

Re: GLX MBR 784C questions
The first gen configurations with Wiebe seats used double-footed PacBay guides for the entire guide train. After Shimano acquired Loomis, they transitioned to using Fuji components and featured the Concept guide train. I have an MBR784 IMX with Wiebe seat and Concept guides that I still use once in ...

Re: Need help. 844mbr glx guides popped out
Wiebe seat with tall guides (all double-footed) sounds like the era Loomis used PacBay guides. I'd check a Mudhole or other supplier catalog to see if that SiC guide is still available.
