Re: What's REALLY next for Daiwa

Who even buys high end in the states? Reels are not rods, they're very easy to repair (not that they even break to begin with) so the warranty you'd get from TW is really pointless This is very true. Plus, the reels that are JDM are usually better looking anyways. Hell, I sourced a JDM Tatula SV ju...

Re: Gear ratio: 8 VS 7?

I always say use whats more comfortable to you. As for ratio, IPT should be what you are looking at. One reels 6 speed may just be as fast as anothers 7 speed, and on and on. So, there are the people that prefer fast or slow reels for certain applications. If Im swimming baits, I prefer something al...

Re: What's REALLY next for Daiwa

Word is, US price on the Steez CT SV 70 will be 699 bucks. No thanks. 472 bucks on Digitaka Didnt they learn with the PX Type-R? No one really bought that reel (for full price, 500 USD). I owned one and it was a nice reel. I also got mine for far less than retail. That reel came with a carbon handl...

Re: What's next for Shimano???

Thank you for sharing. Clearly Scorpion is Curado K based, better MGL spool, a bit smaller handle knobs, I bet three will be at least 1 bearing per knob. Nice upgrade reel for those who like curado K. Antares reminds me Core 100 ergonomics, especially from palming cover side, beautiful reel. For CO...

Re: What's next for Shimano???

Anybody follow ichiban tackle on instagram? He put up a few pictures of the new stuff. The Scorpion is more of a cany apple red, and shiney. The black, is actually like a gun metal grey. Looks better in that picture. But still Revo Rocket like.

Plenty of Doyo made reels going strong that had Duralumin gears in them. I service quite a few to this day.

Re: What's next for Shimano???

I am patiently waiting on an update to the Core series. The 100 MG7 and 50 MG7 were a couple of my all time favorites. I would be a fan of them following what daiwa has done with the Steez. Give us magnesium and aluminum options for the Core. Brass gearing in both with 6,7,8 ratios. I would also li...

Re: Older Shimano Bantam Scorpion 2000, any info?

The roller clutch, or anti reverse bearing, would be sitting in the sideplate where the crankshaft comes through. The crankshaft is what the handle is fastened to. If no bearing, than you may have just the cog system.

Re: Older Shimano Bantam Scorpion 2000, any info?

If you can find one of those black and silver Bantams (very hard to find), go ahead and purchase one. It will be good to have for the parts under the crank side plate, which should all swap out. Yes, the brakes are different, but thats no big deal. As a matter of fact, you may even be able to swap a...

Re: Daiwa Fuego Ct or Shimano SLX

Would you care to share what you did with the fuego ct? How do you think it will hold up in Saltwater, with of course the proper maintenance afterwards. It's very exciting to me that something in the $60 range can be tweaked and upgraded. I like doing tweaks. Complete tear down, and relube to my li...

Re: Daiwa Fuego Ct or Shimano SLX

Well, Ive had the Fuego CT, and was able to turn it into a killer smooth and casting machine. I just got the deal I was looking for on a SLX, and should be here by the end of the week. I am going to see what I can do to it internally to unleash whatever beast (or Gerbil) is inside. I can tell ...
