Re: Snap Beans !!

It looks like a package has 2 lures, 1 at 1/16 oz and 1 at 1/32 oz.

"Per pair. Includes 1-1/32 oz. and 1-1/16 oz. lure."

Is my interpretation correct?

Re: UL soft plastics tactics

If I use small SPs (usual) then I find the small jigs work well enough. I do sometimes use a normal sized hook, no weights, and a decent sized SP (3" paddle tail for example). I find the UL rod can throw a larger SP well enough with out additional weight. Of course, if you need weight to go deep, th...

Re: Casting flies

Oh,

I don't do it much. I might be the only person in North CO not fishing rivers and streams, but a small piece of foam on your line near the head or 1' up your line from the head can allow you to drift flies on spinning gear easier than just the fly alone.

Re: Casting flies

What I have wanted to do, but haven't yet. Is use an unweighted streamer in place of the tail hook on an UL lure. Specifically: I use a medium rod with a 3" rapala sometimes, but sometimes it just puts me into 12" LMB. I would rather take small bass on L and UL rigs, but sometimes they are disinclin...

Other fly stuff in UL

I have been thinking for a while, and was prompted by the fly question of another post. Is there anything else besides flies from fly fishing that you have used is UL spin fishing? Has anyone tried the "strike indicators" (or have you simply used a piece of yarn?) or any of that sinking putty? Or an...

Re: Casting flies

The heavy head streamers work fine for me. I have also been using an unplugged worm weight ahead of a weedless bass bug style frog. It has been working fine in the slop. I have had no bites in open water - but I will keep trying. In open water the worm weight sinks and pulls down the line - giving t...

Re: Pflueger Trion

I recently went of vacation and managed to fail to pack my reels*. This post gave me a decent option in the situation. Thank you. *It wasn't a fishing based vacation. Since my cat had very expensive surgery last year after eating about 20 feet of yarn anything string like is locked up - which means ...

The Total Fishing Manual (Field & Stream)

Has anyone looked at "The Total Fishing Manual" yet? Any one have any opinions? I am not so naieve as to believe that something my magazine subscription wants to sell me is as good for me as it is for the publisher. I am just wondering if it is any good. I am assuming it is a bit redundant with the ...

Re: Favorite jigs?

Honestly, I am happy with the BPS 1/32 squirt heads. I like the oval (as opposed to circle) profile. They are cheap and easy and hook just fine panfish and LMB. I could probably try something fancier, or even larger. But I am happy.

Re: Why ultralite

I am going to echo a few others, and go with -I am fishing to catch fish. There is a distinction here in style that I think may be important. Some people are really excited by "tricking" the fish - that is, getting it to take a certain lure. This is most well known in fly fishing, but seems to exist...

Inline spinner wire selection.

Does anyone have a chart or other collection of data with suggestions for certain wire types/gauges for certain fish or certain fish aprox weights? Wire for making in-line spinners, I mean. Jansnetcraft has lb test of the various wires, but I suspect that to be an unwise approach to my question. A f...

Re: Floating Line And Very Lightweight Lures Question ?

Sometimes I run a small worm weight or bullet weight infront of my lighter spinners when they aren't getting down far enough (or fast enough). It feels better to me than split shot or other weights affixed up the line.

I am also sure there are tons of things. But the most obvious to me is how much thinner line keeps getting at the same lb/test.

Re: UL rod length

One issue I think a lot of people forget is working with the rod itself. Sure, if all you have to do is run line up, then even a 10' pole can be managed, because you only do it once an outing. Myself, I find with UL activity I get a lot of cases where the line wraps around my tip, or otherwise fouls...
