Re: Daiwa Project T 2020
For the most part, current Daiwa reels keep me satisfied. They can't all be winners I suppose. But, I'm sick of the same paint schemes and colors. We used to get carbon handles on higher end models, but now, at 600 plus, we get the same recycled crap... Again and again. These new spool sizes kinda ...

Looks really nice to me. I like the improved palm side plate the most. I have no interest in a 10+ rato reel though. 7.1 is my go to.

An aluminum Zillion version of the Steez CT would be just fine with me. Throw a deeper Mag Z spool in it...Hobie-Wan Kenobi wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2019 5:38 pmFirst pic looks like a Steez CT frame. Maybe a trickle down?

Which Elite do you have?fishballer06 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2019 6:52 amReporting back after my second outing with my Elite.
This time I respooled with braid and got the brakes dialed in. The Elite is definitely the further caster than the K.

Re: Show us your Sol
Personally, I would swap in a gunmetal retainer screw and look for a purple drag star (if they make them). Then it would be perfect I think. Looks great as it is now though for sure. Re: High Speed Reels (9:1 Type)
In my experience, the faster the reel, the noisier the gears, even brand new. I think it just has to do with more torque going through a smaller pinion. At ~30% faster than a 6.3, the pinion and spool are flying around by comparison. I haven't had any issues with gear wear in my TWS 9.1 in heavy co...

Re: Aluminum dragstar for coastal sv tw
The new Tatula 100 uses the same frame right? A Zillion Type-R star fit perfectly on mine. Good chance it fits the new Coastal too.

Re: Basszone handles
I'm a big fan of the Basszone handles too. Never had a problem with one. I really like their knobs too. They are basic Daiwa shaped knobs but a touch thinner and longer and usually made of grippy rubber that doesn't get very slick when wet or oily like most Daiwa knobs do for me.

Re: Lets see all them Daiwa's
There are so many great spools for the 34mm platform. Just try them all until you find the ones that suit your taste. Bang for the buck, the Zillion SV spool, T3 1016, and Ray's/DIY spool of your choosing are tough to beat.

Re: Favorite EWG Flipping Hook
I stick with needle point style hooks when possible. The Trokar hooks are really sharp, but like you noticed, you better keep a bend in you rod at all times or they just fall out because the knife like point on the hook slices a big open hole. May as well not even have a barb on the hook in most cas...

Re: Lets see all them Daiwa's
Here's a TD-S that I recently acquired from another member here (got it for spinnerbaits). I updated it a little bit. TD-Z spool, swept Zaion drag star and 100mm handle with new Steez knobs. I added a couple bearings inside, also. I know it's not the latest and greatest, but it performed flawlessly...
