Re: Steez A vs Shimano Bantam
I haven't used a Steez A so cannot comment on it. But the Bantam is an amazing reel. I would love nothing more than to retire my metaniums, chornarchs and Curado's as well as my Core 100MGFV to replace them with more banatams I like them that much. I am thinking Kurt L may have gotten a bad one beca...

Re: What are you cranking with?
An Antares should not have any flex in it under load but I have never used one. I have a Calcutta conquest 100 and 200 that I use for my crank baiting. If I wanted a low pro reel, I would order a Bantam PG just from my experience with the two Bantams I currently have. Great reel with absolutely no f...

Re: Jerkbait Rod/all around Rod
I haven't used the new version but have you considered stepping down a peg and trying the Orochi XX Jerkbait special? I have the original version and love that rod for jerkbaits and spook style baits. Myself, I wouldn't be trying to use any of the rods you picked for both Jerkbaits and bottom contac...

Re: Foregrip or no foregrip?
The only rods I like having a foregrip on are spinning rods. And even then, I am touching the blank because of the way I hold the rod.

Re: Metanium DC worth it over Curado DC
Both are great reels (Own a Met DC. have friends with the Curado DC). the best advice I can give you on these two reels is do some research on the DC system in both reels. You may find one is better suited for the way you fish. The metanium has more line options than the curado but the curado seems ...

Re: Bantam MGL
I bought one when it first came out and absolutely fell in love with it. Casts like a dream, retrieve is silky smooth and there es absolutely no movement in the frame. Liked it so much, I bough a second oen and plan on purchasing a third. First one is a 6.2:1. I use it for jerkbaits a spook style ba...

I use the original Dobyns Champion 706CB for the I-loud and I-jack. works well for it.

Re: High end frog rod: heavy-ish surface veg
Currently using the Expride 173XHA and think it is a great rod. I have a metanium on it and it balances out really well. There is a ton of backbone in the rod and it keeps the fish pinned. It is a little harder to walk a bait with but once you figure it out, you will be really pleased with the rod. ...

Re: Chronarch MGL interesting story
I went through the same thought process with my 13 Metanium and Chronarch CI4+. At the beginning, I did not see anywhere where the price difference was worth it performance wise but the longer I used both, the more I started to understand why the metanium is worth the extra money. It took a long ti...

Re: Dobyns Champion 735 XP
I have the Non XP version and use it exclusively for frogs. It has worked well as a back up for pitching Jigs/heavy Texas rigs in the past but I usually use a DX 745 for that. Never used it for football jigs at all but would imagine it would work and have never tried to throw a swimbait on it. The o...

Re: Reel Selection
I don't sell reels often but if I do, it's because I either do not like it for it's intended application or I have found something I like more. The last reel I sold was an FX73SV-110 and only reason I sold it was I felt someone else would appreciate it more. I ended up buying a Bantam with the proce...

Re: What is your prefered reel for jerkbaits
If there is anything I have noticed, jerkbait gear seems to be very very different from person to person. Gear ratio? I have used and 7.3:1, 6.2:1 and 6.4:1. I much prefer a slower ratio as I am more concerned with presentation than I am with picking up slack. I use braid as a mainline so too fast o...

Re: Dobyns vs Megabass vs Shimano
That's a tough one for me as I have been using Dobyns for quite a long time. I have the Champion 734 (non XP) and it is a very versatile stick that I use mainly for soft swimbaits like Keitechs, spinnerbaits and buzzbaits. but I do not believe it is anywhere near as sensitive as the XX or the Exprid...
