Re: New Certate?

Got my LT2500 in today. Spooled it up with 1.5 Varivas Seabass SI-X. Had some issues putting line on it. At first the line lay was very bottom heavy so I removed a spacer, its better now but slightly top heavy. May add a spacer back in. I used it for an hour or so tonight from the bank but didnt cat...

Re: Shallow spinning reel spools. Help a brother understand.

Reels are so much lighter than they used to be, so the weight issue is pretty much negated now. A larger diameter spool just handles line better, less coiling and longer casts, so a shallow spooled 2500 size reel holds the same amount of line as a 750 or 1000 sized reel of old, weighs the same or le...

Re: 19 Certate

I have three of them too, a 2500s, 3000 and 4000. I think they're excellent, though the 4000 lost it's gears and was a very expensive repair. The drag is just sublime on them. Can't imagine a new version being a huge upgrade, maybe a little lighter, but struggle to believe they could make it a whole...

Re: Spy Bait Reel - High End

I'd have a hard time getting anything other than a 4000 certate. I really like that reel. I'm not a great Shimano fan, the bail arm looks too fine and the position of the bail is more touchy than Daiwas. My shimanos snap closed when I'm casting more frequently than my Daiwas when I've opened the bai...

Re: Ocea Conquest

When you're dropping slow pitch jigs they want to flutter, so take ages to get them down to the fish. The lever is to apply tension when you're dropping down 100ft or so, so the jig falls straight and doesn't flutter. Or you can thumb the spool like everyone else.

Keitech Live Impact
Reins Bubbling Shaker
Jackall Cross Tail Shad or Molix Sator

In that order
Pretty much exactly my go tos too! Bubbling shaker in scuppernog is the top pick though.
