Re: Eliminating Backlash on Strong Casts

What are your brake settings? Beginning to middle of cast is all on the centrifugal brakes. End of the cast is on the spool tension as the spool is spinning slower and not creating as much braking(which is why casts were controlled but lacking distance). Try turning those brakes up some and turn the...

Re: Sunline FC Leader 7lb

Very interesting. Is Shooter more abrasion resistant than Sniper? I like that 7lb dia... I have no experience with anything lighter than 14lb, but Shooter is a lot more abrasion resistant than Sniper. 7lb shouldn’t be any different. Shooter is pretty much as close to a true leader line without bein...

Re: Sunline FC Leader 7lb

I had the same exact results with 18lb. Broke every time I set the hook. Threw it away after the second trip and went back to Shooter. Better line for the same price.

Re: Bearing number for an SLX drive shaft?

I had the same issue with one of my Stiles. After cleaning out the bearing cup and working with it for a few, it fit fine. Im thinking it had something to do with the paint thickness.

Re: Your favorite rod taper for Jerkbaits

Fast action. Love some MBR rods for jerkbaits, 2 and 3 power rods whether 6’6” or 7’(though I do like the lighter tips of the 7’ rods). MH has no trouble with keeping fish pinned as long as the hooks are matched correctly.

That’s just phenomenal. Congratulations on the catch
Thank you sir. If it bites, we are definitely gonna try to land it, no matter how outgunned we may be!

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

This is plain nuts. I’ve been thinking that a power poll on a yak would be sweet but is likely beyond my current level of skill/effort. You sir might need to level up to full helmet and pads. Might have to do that when the tarpon start moving inshore! PowerPole is tough to beat, and I feel it...

Quick thinking. Congrats on winning that battle.
Thank you sir, it was all I could think of to keep the fight going. Really helps my confidence in the equipment after something like that!

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

Every once in a while I run into these wrecking balls by accident. Fishing up in 2-3’ of water throwing a jerkbait for trout and saw some small bait start skipping, so I cast a Flash Minnow right into the middle of them. Two twitches and the drag started screaming! Before I could even get to the rem...

Re: Shimano Core 51 MG7

Clean them just like you do any bearings. It’s just a pressed in shield(not sealed) as opposed to a shield held in with a retainer. Ultrasonic does a great job cleaning out those bearings without removal. It is possible to remove the shields, but there is a risk of damage.

Re: Making Conquests Lighter

A little late but any it reminded me about the warranty which I completely forgot about. Contacted daiwa and they said it does void the warranty but I've never broken a rod and neither is it a life time warranty anyways. Not sure why it deleted the rest of the post when I edited, but yeah warranty ...

Re: Shimano conquest 903c?

Great rod for everything you mention! Stay in the listed weight range, and throw basically anything you want. Haven’t found a lure yet that my Conquests can’t fish effectively. Really versatile rods.

Can’t believe he was able to get away with it for sooo long, especially fishing tourneys! I guess that’s what happens when people start to idolize someone, they see no faults even when it’s in plain sight. I’m really shocked at the way California does lake records! All you need is a picture, no proo...
