Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

Damn! That is some serious fish for a 2 power stick. Always end up catching them on that rod  Seems they only like to bite when I’m throwing a jerkbait. It’s a beast though and does a great job with bigger fish. I want to live your life.... O:) We have some great fisheries here on the Gulf Coa...

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

Conquest 842 putting in some work yesterday. This jack crushed my Flash Minnow as soon as it hit the water, and was a strong fighter despite the messed up tail. Towed me out a few hundred yards before I was able to tire it out. Always a fun surprise. https://i.postimg.cc/B6w18ZMj/426-FFC78-79-AA-4-B...

Re: Making Conquests Lighter

Dude! That is the most frantically paced jerk bait retrieve I’ve ever seen. It looks like if you aren’t paying attention a good red could rip the rod right away from you. Looks like a lot of fun, but draining. I can see why you changed your guides and lightened your rod. Good stuff! Still love my c...

Re: Making Conquests Lighter

i have been looking to re-purpose a factory rod and found this guide train discussion to be useful. the one notable exception is the first guide KW10 is much larger the normal. Norm is a respected rod builder on the rodbulding forum. For a 7’ casting rod I use KW10 (or RV6) followed by a KW5.5 (or ...

Re: Making Conquests Lighter

And to be clear again, if anyone is thinking about this, but has never done it before, you may want a builder to take care of it. It’s easy, but a $500-$650 mistake is hard to come back from(although Xpeditor covers everything). I’m really posting this because there’s a lot of talk about balance and...

that is awesome.
When you swapped the guides on nrx 843, did you install the exact same number of guides and exact same placement as it was with the original recoils? Or did you reduce the number?
Same number, same placement. Not much difference in ring height, which is the main concern.

Re: Who is the MOST over rated ?

I’m not a fan of Dobyns in general although I own a few, but they aren’t used for bottom contact. Seems people used to love the CB models on here, as well as the models I own, frog rods. Never really heard many talking them up for moving baits other than cranks. Do you guys just dislike them for bot...

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

Couple more speckled trout caught on a custom Flash Minnow MR. Its been super hot out, but as long as the wind is blowing the bite has been great. Caught on custom Conquest 842c(amazing jerkbait rod)and Stile SS 151. https://i.postimg.cc/k4Y1R9SB/CEB2-C021-C39-F-4-C35-9-FC3-D69-E9918-A4-EA.jpg http...

Re: Making Conquests Lighter

Update: So I’ve had these rods on the water with all the changes for over a year now, and all I can say is WOW. Every time I use them, they put a smile on my face :big grin: They have held up great, no issues with the cork edges chipping and of course the guides are still perfect. Landed several fis...

Re: Your opinion on the Daiwa's Zero Adjuster

I like it. It’s hard to move and stays put once you find your preferred setting. The cast control on my old Chronarch 51Mg is so loose I swear it loosens just from making several casts all day. I could care less about clicks. I like it when knobs and dials stay put. Stretch the spring out that’s un...

Never understood the need to tie an FG, especially for bass fishing.
If you think the FG knot is excessive... wait until you see my review on PowerPro's Hollow Ace
Oh man, have seen it done, so I know that’s the truth

Re: Braid to fluorocarbon

30lb braid to 18lb fluoro on my inshore rods. 9 wrap Albright every time. Tiny knot that’s super easy to tie and very strong(I’ve never broken it), why make things more difficult? Never understood the need to tie an FG, especially for bass fishing.

Re: Who is the MOST over rated ?

You gotta admit though, there’s a lot of whining about not having full cork handles on this forum.
