Re: Ordering from Mudhole

Thank you guys, glad to hear no one has had any major issues. Went ahead and placed an order, so we will see how it turns out. Shipping and availability of components always seems to be a headache when it comes to building custom rods, so at least I can say those issues won’t bother me any more than...

Re: Flip Pitch Punch Reel

Aldebaran 51Mg with 7.7:1 brass gears is what I’ve been using this year. I don’t winch on fish, so I don’t beat my reels up punching at all. Paired with either Conquest 905 or NRX 916, both great combos depending on cover. Want to try out the Bantam for punching next year.

Re: Flats wading

We cross many deeper areas on the flats where a bag or backpack would be submerged constantly, so I had to figure something else out. Decided to make a wade float and it worked great at holding all my tackle, ruler, drinks and extra rods. Had a lot of people around here copying my design at one poin...

Re: Ordering from Mudhole

Saw that coupon offer earlier, thanks for the reminder. Didn’t realize that sticky post was from 2011  Hopefully things are better now. Extended wait time does suck though. Saw a 5-7 day ship time but not sure about this quantity.

Ordering from Mudhole

Anyone had any issues with ordering components from Mudhole lately? See the sticky at the top, but wondering how things are working out now. Want to order 80 guides for 8 rods (Torzite), and their free shipping has me looking to order from them. Thanks.

Re: Custom Paints

Very nice! I want to get into airbrushing as well. Seems like a lot of fun learning the process. Thank you. It really is, and all the color options that are available are mind blowing. Best part for me is I can buy discontinued lures that don’t have any good colors left, and paint them for a specif...

Custom Paints

Got into painting this year and have been trying to learn everything I can. It’s been a fun process putting everything together. Been using a Paasche H airbrush and it’s been getting the job done, but can’t wait to get something that will work even better. Here’s a few of the baits I’ve painted so f...

Sensitive Moving Bait Rods

What’s everyone’s opinion on using sensitive rods for things like crankbaits, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, etc.? Rods like NRX/Conquest, Steez, Ultima...but also rods like Expride/Adrena, Helium, etc and did you notice any advantages when you moved up? I read all the time that it’s not needed, and us...

Re: Where have all the Full handle Rods Gone

I’ve always wondered why more companies don’t make both split and full grips available. It’s pretty obvious some people prefer one over the other so why keep limiting them to only one option?

Re: Where have all the Full handle Rods Gone

Love my split grips, no doubt about that  but I do agree some rods feel better with full grip, especially rods in the 7’3”+ range. Never felt a rod under 7’ that felt tip heavy in use though, so make them light as possible! There’s definitely a few things that stand out in use with split grips ...

Toray Superhard Upgrade, toughest Fluoro I’ve ever used. Shooter is close, but not quite there.

Re: Lucky Craft Gerald Swindle G.D.S. Mini DR Crankbait

I know exactly what you mean, I’m the same way with my BDS1 baits. Although it’s not exactly what you are looking for, I don’t think you would be disappointed in the SKT mini. Even though it has a tight action, it works well in all seasons, and deflects cover like magic with the “square” bill. Fat M...

Re: Lucky Craft Gerald Swindle G.D.S. Mini DR Crankbait

I don’t have an answer as to where to purchase, but those are definitely two different baits. The SKT is more of a flat side crank with a tighter action while the GDS has a round body and wide wobble. Really love those SKT mini baits.
