Re: GlX 843C MBR vs Kistler Zbone light medium heavy 7'

^^^ that’s the truth. Really takes all the guesswork out of rigging rods. Stay in the weight ranges of each rod and cover pretty much everything. No experience with the newer Zbones, but love my older model. Not as versatile, but great blank. Sensitivity would be pretty equal between older Zbone and...

Re: After 10 years in a kayak ...

Good looking boat for sure. Remember Brad bringing these up a while ago. What types of areas are you fishing in this? Big lakes, small lakes, rivers, ponds? How about durability, realize you don’t have any time on the water yet but how do you think it would hold up to rocks and oyster shells? Thanks...

Re: Ultimate speckled trout set-up

I’m using a Jackson Cuda LT. love the light weight and paddles well (thermoformed vs. roto). Hmm, your 843 project /comments have got me thinking on switching from a Light MH/Fast spinning to a Med/mod fast casting with a Steez A. Both rods are Zbones, but the casting rod is a standout in that line...

Re: Weight Transfer System Stuck

You can try gap filling super glue. Put a dab onto the hole, smooth it with your finger, and use accelerant to set it. Or use some Devcon 2 Ton epoxy. They should both hold up to the salt. Tried some Devcon, and it worked ok at first, but didn’t solve the problem and then started leaking after a fe...

Re: Ultimate speckled trout set-up

JB, Great post!!! Need to get back down there for some Trout, been over 20 years! loved fishing for them in the past! Thank you sir. They are so much fun to chase, whether on a school of keepers or stalking the big girls, it will keep you entertained. 20 years is a long time to be away, need to hit...

Re: Ultimate speckled trout set-up

Thanks for bringing this topic back to the top! We don’t have the variety of species of S. FL, so our trophy fish around here are trout, and man I love to chase them. Big trout are pretty much the only fish I chase in the salt anymore, though plenty of redfish and flounder are caught as they love th...

Re: New Antares

Weight isn’t an issue with the techniques I use this reel for(spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, jigs). I wouldn’t take it out there and rip jerkbaits all day, that’s where a light reel shines. As far as any actual negatives, I’d say that it can get hot sitting on the deck in the sun all day, but not bad e...

Re: Line recommendation for topwater/jerkbait combo

I use 30lb braid to a fluoro or mono leader. Usually 14-18lb Shooter or 18-22lb Defier Armillo. Getting good action out of a rip bait is easy with no stretch braid.

Re: Removing Paint

I am just a hobby bait maker, and use water-based air brush paints. If I want to strip a bait down to plastic, to get a clear bait to paint, I sand and scrape most of the paint off. Then I do a quick dip in clean acetone (quick or it will melt the bait's plastic) and proceed with painting. If I jus...

Re: Weird incident with reel, but funny.

Yeah, because no one on here has ever had a problem with a Daiwa reels brake system  Nonsense like the piece in the side plate coming loose and can’t get any distance? [-X Both brands can have issues guys. Or the first iteration of SV ramps getting stuck all the time... It's a pain and the par...

Re: Weird incident with reel, but funny.

Sounds very similar to my experience with my first Ch CI4, though I didn’t have the issues with turning the brakes up and then back down. That is weird. To much oil is definitely a bad thing, but from my experience the Curado I was the only one that really needed it at all. Run my Metaniums, Chrona...

Removing Paint

Anyone have any advice on what to use to remove paint from lures? That Lucky Craft Paint is some tough stuff! Been using 90% iso alcohol mixed half and half with water. It works, but I’ve had a few of my used lures crack and fall apart. No issues with new lures, but still looking for something that ...
