I just received my aldebaran and noticed that the hood that covers the worm gear flexes away from the frame when pressure is applied. Do you have any idea what would cause this?

I use a reel set. Lift the rod straight up and reel until the rod loads.

I use 30lb Power Pro super slick with 17lb seaguar red label with no problems at all. I have been using it the whole season with no breakage issues.

Definitely try the omega finesse pitching jig. They have a lighter hook that is better for fluorocarbon.

It all depends on water clarity and weather conditions. In dirty water, I will throw a jig whether its cloudy or clear out. In clear water, if it is overcast then i will throw a jig.
