Re: DAIWA 18 ZILLION TW HLC 1516 SH

Anyone have any experience with the Daiwa 18 Zillion TW HLC 1516 SH? Considering it for a deep diving crankbait and A-rig reel for a G-Rods Pro Bass 7-11 Heavy Magnum Crankbait stick. As an alternative, you might want to think about the Zillion 1520 HD Crazy Cranker (I would suggest the 6.3, but th...

Re: DAIWA 18 ZILLION TW HLC 1516 SH

I plan on using it for SK 6XDs up to 10XDs (1 ounce to 2 ounces) and for A-rigs, so it shouldn't see anything under 3/4 oz. I love the looks of the reel, long carbon handle, and knobs, plus it would look great on the G-Rods black and silver accented rod. I'm just wondering if functionally I might be...

Re: Casting Rods... What will you spend?

Most expensive production rod I paid for was $575 (discounted price) and was extremely disappointed in the rods performance. As a winter time hobby, I started building rods for myself and as gifts for friends and family. I won't look back. For $250 to $300, I can build everything I want in a rod.

2016 Daiwa AIRD Red Tune

I am looking for a new squarebill cranking reel and ran onto the 2016 Daiwa AIRD Red Tune. Does anyone have any experience with this reel? It looks like the Alphas platform, but I can't determine where the cast control knob is located. Spool information? Magnetic brakes or centrifugal brakes like th...

Re: Pitching Reel?

I decided to go with the SV103XS. I am going to upgrade spool bearings and knobs. Does the SV103 utilize the same spool bearing size as the OG Zillions?

I didn't know if an SV spool would limit pitching distance or help.

Re: Squarebill Reel

I'll also give my vote for the new conquest. I smile everytime I pick it up. The new 2017 aluminum steez tw is also very interesting and may also find its way into the lineup when it becomes available. My Steez SV TW casts like no other reel I have.

Re: 2014 Conquest Avail spools

Yes, Ideally I am looking for a little more line capacity for throwing deeper running crankbaits on 10-12 lb fluorocarbon. Good to know that ZPI will have a new spool soon. I will also be purchasing a longer handle. Any suggested lengths?
