Re: Finesse Special spool in an Alphas
Thanks for the help. It sounds like this spool will work well for me. I also prefer braid and I was hoping to use 10# also. Now to decide on a reasonably priced rod.

Re: Finesse Special spool in an Alphas
I have one in my pixy, but if you drop it in an Alphas/Sol without spacers there will be a gap around it. Can throw some really light stuff with it. I throw UL hard baits and finesse plastics with mine. Really like it I have the spacers thanks to new2BC4bass from this forum. What rod and line do yo...

Re: Finesse Special spool in an Alphas
The spool I have in mind is the I'ZE Factory Finesse Special spool that comes in the Pixy PX68, not the Megabass Finesse Special. Any one ever used one?

Finesse Special spool in an Alphas
Would the Finesse Special spool be a good choice in an Alphas 103F throwing 1/8-5/16oz plastic? There are many threads on Alphas spools but they none strictly deal with Finesse Special, they jump from spool to spool and it gets confusing. The more exotic spools are not in my budget.

Re: Casting Help!
The reel is incredible, zero complaints there. The rest is up to me. I will say though that the BPS Prolite was a decent little reel to learn with. It is much better than many of the reels most guys try to start with. The quality difference is readily apparent as soon as you pick up the Alphas, but ...

Re: Casting Help!
I got the shorter rod because I fish from a kayak and wanted accuracy more so than distance. If I were to do it again I would look for a 6'6" rod. The bass that are caught in the lakes that are close for me are on the small side so the M/L rod is more fun. A 3lb. fish is a great catch, a 5lb. is a m...

Re: Casting Help!
I guess what confuses me is I had no problem with the lighter weight. It's the opposite of what I am used to. The more weight I put on the Prolite the better I could cast.

Re: Casting Help!
Actually, the plug only weighed 7 gr. and the worm w/hook weighed 10gr. I started with the plug and after a few casts it was incredible. No effort to throw 75', I could stop it where I wanted, it was everything I could want. Put the heavier worm on and it was a different animal. I thought the worm w...

Casting Help!
I just got my first good reel, an Alphas 103 Type F. I have it on a Quantum KVD Signature 6'4" M/L Fast. Read a thread on here where one of the guys used one of these with 1/4 oz. lure, magnets at 4-6 clicks and no spool tension. I drilled my casting plug to 7gr. (.24oz) set it at 6 clicks and no sp...

Re: Parts breakdown
Thanks guys, my main concern was identifying the parts and the part numbers should I need replacements down the roars. I will keep in mind the special shaft and gears, that was good to know.

Thank you, that is exactly what I needed. With a few exceptions, everything looks pretty much the same. I appreciate the help.

Parts breakdown
I'm just received my Alphas 103L Type F from Ichiban. Beautiful reel and fast shipping by the way. It came with a blow up of the reel and it's parts, but no numbered list with descriptions. I emailed them and they replied that the reel Daiwa doesn't supply that with those reels. What other Alphas ha...

Re: Help with reel choice.
Got my 103 Type F from Ichiban yesterday. 5 days including a holiday from japan to Ohio, can't ask for better service. Reel is in excellent condition, nicer than the pictures showed. Spool it up today and see what happens.
