The only thing wrong with the newer lines of daiwa spinning reels are the drags. The drag startup on my ballistic was sticky and my fishing buddies 2000 Airds were the same. I don't know what the problem is but I would be willing to bet most are the same. It's not sticky once the drag gets going but...

I have found super aggressive retrieves with jerkbaits like pointer 100 or X RAPS will call smallmouth up a long way, I use this technique alot once the small jaws turn off on the rattle bait. I think they grow accustomed or conditioned to the noise!

I have caught more with the X Rap shad again its super slow float, but the sound chamber is a bit different. I like to stop start retrieve with them and the have a tiny kick to them when they at art moving again.
