Re: Strike King 10XD

I've been using them with limited success since they came out. I use 20lb mono because I cast it on my a-rig/swimbait rod. I've been able to tag bottom in 24ft but I haven't tried to long line it with the trolling motor yet, just normal cast. The rod is a Dobyns 795MLSB and I'm currently using a lig...

Re: Steez palm ability?

I'll go ahead and revise my statement on the Steez and Sol and add the T3 to the mix. My 3 most used techniques are sq bill/top water, tx rig/weightless senko, and drop shot/whacky/weightless finesse. Because of that, I obviously use the most comfortable reel for those because on an 8 hour tournamen...

Re: How do you set your baitcast reel?

Thanks for the replies guys. So i guess thumbing is more of a personal preference. To get maximum distance, you will need to train your thumb. The reels of today can be set to use almost no thumb but casting distance will suffer. Some spools or reels take less input like the SV spool and some are o...

Re: Steez palm ability?

The only reel I've ever held that might have been better in the palm would be my Sol. It's much more comfortable than the Zillion and light years beyond the Tatula.

Re: Daiwa T3 after a year

I have finish issues with my T3 1016 as well, it's just fragile. I have an entire boat full of Daiwa reels and this is the only one with a mark on it and it's got 10 hours of fishing time. It urks me that the finish just chipped off for absolutely no reason (where I rest my thumb) when my reels neve...

This, I've bought several to replace my Zillions stock handles to add cork knobs and bearings.

Re: Dobyn 795

I also don't think you'd like it very much for that other techniques. I fish Swimbaits, occasional A rigs, and 10XD's with it and it's great for all of that but I don't think it would make a good flipping stick etc. just doesn't have the right feel.

Re: Regret...

The only time I've ever regretted buying anything tackle related was when I tried to save a buck and get "as good as" gear. If I just suck it up and spend the money I've never regretted it. I always have prebuyers remorse lol. Once I drop the coin I'm good with it, it's just convincing myself to do ...

Re: 2 Tatulas or 1 T3, that is the question

This is a source of argument for many. I've got a Tatula and a Tatula R as well as a T3 and T3bxs. To me the T3 is twice the reel, it's lighter, it casts like a dream regardless of wind, the knobs are great, it palms much more comfortably than the Tatula, and I just prefer it. The Tatula however is ...

Re: which reel for topwater would u choose

Last year, I had all Lew's TP reels in the boat. Buying a Tatula Type R is what prompted my switch to Daiwa when a local retailer ordered one for someone and they never picked it up. He sold it to me for 140 and I was done for. I now have Daiwa's from the regular to the Steez and everything in betwe...
