Re: Kids tackle

thanks for all the replies mine just celebrated his first birthday last tuesday =) it's perhaps a little too early :big grin: anymore clues about tackle suited for starting at 2? The Scooby Doo or like rod (Barbie for girls) is more than adequate at that age. My son started when he was two and turn...

Re: Line on Reels 0n Airplanes ????

I have travelled internationally with reels in my carry on luggage post 9-11 without issue, and my reels had line on them. I wasn't stopped or questioned. I guess it depends on who is inpecting you and your items. I didn't see the prohibition of carrying reels with line at the TSA site. Can someone ...

Re: Citica D, Your thoughts?

As one who nearly bought a Citica D, I believed it was going to be a solid performer from the get go. When I got to the store, I learned the curado ds were $20 off. So like a bass that can't resist a properly made presentaton, I snatched up that offer. I am not willing to pay full price for a curado...

Re: Is it just me or is the XRap..

I love the action of the xrap, but I haven't caught a fish with one yet. I do love rapalas and many of their other baits such as the DTs and originals and skitter pop rock! Oh man your missing out.. some of my most aggressive jerkbait strikes have came on XRaps. Try short rapid upward jerks (key is...

Anyone know about Pacific Bay TiCH Guides and Okuma Evx Rod?

I came across some rods from Okuma that kind of caught my eye in a local tackle shop. They weren't pricey and I learned after doing some searching that this Evx rod is made from IM8 graphite but the thing that piqued my curiosoity was that the guides were made by Pac Bay and they were called TICH (h...

Almost forgotten yet effective lures for bass

I went fishing with my wife's uncle and he outfished me (we weren't competing) 2.5 fish to 1. When I set up my drop shot rig and realized I missed a guide (arrrrgh!!), he had already nailed three decent bass with live earthworms (weightless) in the span it took me to set up the rig. It took me that ...

Re: Curado 101 or 201

Hey everybody I have a problem that is concerning me right now. I am in the need for a knew reel and have narrowed it down to either a 101 or 201 Curado. I will be using the reel mainly for pike and perch fishing in lakes and rivers. Lures weigh from 3/8 up to 2oz and the reel will be mounted onto ...

Re: Need mate for Tierra baitcaster

Which one for spinners, traps, chatters and the occassional cranks... Dobyns 703 C vs. Kistler MgAPSMH69 vs. Kistler MgCBSJ610. Would have put the Dobyns 683C on the list, but Tacklewarehouse is out of stock. With all of those choices, there is only one thing you should do... Get one of each!!!! :e...

Re: spinning reel vs small baitcaster for dropshot

I wouldn't use a baitcaster either. I want the bait to get to the bottom as fast as it can and a spinning reel is by far the best for this IMHO. Islandbass, I would like to know how you do it to never get line twist. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I get alot of line twits. I close the bail by han...

Re: spinning reel vs small baitcaster for dropshot

About the only thing I use a spinning reel for is shakey heads and drop shot rigs. But I absolutely hate the line twist that goes along with spinning reels. I am considering shelving the spinning reel and buying a small baitcaster like the BPS Prolite Finesse to take its place. What do ya'll think ...

Re: Homeowner Tackle Insurance?

Just a quick question. If your gear gets stolen in you house, shouldn't it be covered? Forgive my ignorance. But it has gotten me thinking that I ought to add it if it isn't covered.

Cpark, I started feeling sick as I read you post. I am sorry for such a loss and hope you recover from it soon.

Re: Decent rod for under $60

There is a shimano clarus rod that is a two piece with a medium action. It fits your budget to a T. I bought one to serve as my "on the fly, stay in the trunk rod." It will be a tough rod to beat at this price point and the constraint of needing to be a 2-piece rod. It is also covered under Shimano'...
