Re: Millionaires Club

Here's a Millionaire that's not too common. This Millionaire Mini 1000 was only shown in the 1982 US Daiwa catalog. It's smaller than the Conquest 50.

The same company that bought Case Plastics also purchased Zipper Worms. You can see their selection of Zipper worms here:

Re: Date my Daiwa

The Daiwa Procaster PM-100 first appears is Daiwa US catalogs in 1982. The page reads "Now - Daiwa has expanded Procaster series into a complete series of ultralight, light and intermediate baitcasting reels. Procaster Minis, for lines down to 4 pound test, and very light lures..."

Nothin's New. This illustration is from the 1875 book FISHING IN AMERICAN WATERS. http://i1114.photobucket.com/albums/k526/PCW77/Miscellaneous/Skittering-pb_zpsxlvsxqeg.jpg And you don't lift the fish with the full length pole, you move your hands up the pole until you have only a short pole, then s...

I haven't posted anything here for a few years, so... Here's a few Idaho river smallmouth from earlier this month: http://i1114.photobucket.com/albums/k526/PCW77/The%20River%20-%202015/2915.0309-19.25in-2pb_zpsgfhurfrq.jpg http://i1114.photobucket.com/albums/k526/PCW77/The%20River%20-%202015/2015.03...

Re: Kietech 4" Swing Impact

i should clarify that I don't fish this bait on a jig head due to the heavy weed beds I am fishing. I swim the bait thru and over the weeds.

Re: Kietech 4" Swing Impact

I don't see much written about this bait. I have found it to be very successful as a finesse bait. I use it weightless with the Owner Twistlock Finesse hook. This hook is extremely fine wire and will bend if you like to water ski your fish and then throw them into your boat. I fish this bait on a ML...

Re: Readdressing An Old Issue -- China

I guess none of you are old enough to remember when we wanted nothing made in Japan - It was just cheap junk. That was when I was just a wee tad back before WW II.
Everything cycles.

Re: Jet outboard river boat

I own the 18' deluxe version of that boat. I have had it for 6 years and really have enjoyed the boat. I fish for smallmouth in the Snake River in Idaho for 150+ days each year and it does the job for me. Mine has a 90/60 on it.

Re: Question on Rigging a Mann's Sting Ray Grub

I don' t fish the Stingray, but I do fish grubs a quite often year round. I fish them on a drop shot rig with the weight about 8 inches below the grub. It doesn't hang up as much as on a jig head. I cast it as I drift down the river and usually hop it or shake it back toward the boat. A 19.5" smallm...

Re: "Borrowed" ideas

One inventive reel maker, Harvey Carlton, patented and marketed a baitcaster with A 9:1 gear ratio and a thumb bar free spool clutch. This was in 1905. Centrifugal brakes were patented and used on reels in the 1890s. Perforated spools were quite common in the 1940s on Langley reels. Magnetic brakes ...

Re: Spinnerbait Evolution,your timeline

Shannon Twin Spins came out in 1917 and were probably the first overhead shaft spinnerbaits. They had feather or bucktail dressings on the head and hook. They are still popular today with some old timers.

The date of manufacture/assembly should be stamped on the foot. It is in a 2 letter code.

for anyone who might be interested, here is a page of unusual spinning/casting reels from my reel collection. These were popular in the 1940s-1950s:
