Re: Millionaire CT SV

No, I haven’t worked on the spring or ramp as I have limited experience with it. I consider using the reel for the pike and perch where lures are heavier - plus maybe having the spool less filled with line may help. SV tech can be inconsistent at times. Inductor ramp swap and stronger spring can of...

Re: Fastest Round Reel?

So, who's got the Shimano answer to my question?

Is there a Calcutta/Conquest reel + gear set combo that will exceed the retrieve rate of the Conquest 100HG?

Re: Millionaire CT SV

I'd love to hear input from anyone who's fished this reel. Specifically - I'm currently throwing frogs, senkos, jigs (nothing too light... Probably 1/8 oz on up to 5/8 oz) on a couple of Luna 103s with 1016 RCS spools. 30 lb Power Pro usually. Wondering if that SV spool would hinder my casting dista...

Re: Fastest Round Reel?

That's the one! I would go ahead and grab some carbontex drag washers if you haven't already done so. AFAIK it doesn't matter which spool you use. The only thing I've run into as far as that goes is needing a shorter spool tension shaft from a Zillion to change spools. Got it; thanks again. I'll ta...

Re: Fastest Round Reel?

Hi all, I have always preferred 100-size round reels for the bulk of my bass fishing (Calcutta 100 and Daiwa Millionaire 103 sized). I've noticed that the manufacturers simply don't offer round reels in the same 8:1 or 9:1 retrieve rates, as are offered in the low-profile models. Seems they top out...

Re: 6.8:1 monoblock/millionaire

I feel vindicated! I had this exact experience and reached the same conclusions as you. The "solution" that I lucked into was to use the 1016 spool... Everything lined up and played perfectly then. See my last post in this thread:

Re: my cheapest baitcast reel throws the farthest

Black helicopters shall soon swoop in to silence this heretic! Just kidding. My old Chronarch 100A outcasts my newer shimano and daiwas when bombing baits, but not when throwing weightless senkos. Each has its place.

Thanks much - Those are Hawg Tech corks... Just the basic ones they include w/ the handle/bearing/knob set that they sell. The positive is that Shimano knobs will fit this handle, so I do have some options when it comes time to replace them.

Re: hyper speed mod for the millionaire 103 platform

Just reviving this thread to relay my personal experience with 6.8 PX-R gear set swaps on 2 of my 3 Luna 103s. Apologies if anything below is a rehash of anyone's previous pots(s). It seems like the slightly longer PX-R 6.8 pinion gear matches up better with the RCS 1016 spool than the factory Luna ...

I would tend to agree with you... But was hoping someone had already tried/done it and could save me the time and $$$ experimenting.

Thanks all for the responses!
