Re: Anyone knows what happaned to "Alphahawk"?

The last time Alphahawk was active was May 11, 2023. And the youtube channel has been taken off line. Anyone knows how he is? Thanks. Still around. YouTube channel is not dead...just waiting on some good weather to get the new boat out and start fishing. Been a hectic year getting new home...yard.....

Re: JDM Ultralight Spinning Reel..... and rod?

Budget? Regards If I know its going to perform better than the equipment I have(accuracy, distance), and offer a more premium feel I'm pretty open. I was expecting $200-300 for the reel, and probably the same for the rod. Though if what I'm looking for is below that no reason not to save or pick up...

Re: JDM Ultralight Spinning Reel..... and rod?

Hey everybody, I've been really enjoying ultralight gear/fishing for the last two seasons. I rarely pull out my "heavy" stuff(medium, medium heaving casting and spinning) equipment anymore. I've taken a deep dive into BFS and accumulated a number of JDM reels. From XUL to Light these have covered m...

Re: Best sinking UL line? Fluoro or Ester...or something else?

Thanks Alphahawk, Appreciate the confirmation. When you say that you have a hard time seeing it, do you mean when you need to tie the line or when actually fishing? And if actually fishing, are you watching the line to see strikes rather than feeling the strikes? ps: Also, I assume that with 2 lbs ...

Re: Best sinking UL line? Fluoro or Ester...or something else?

I know that I started a thread (no pun intended) on Ester line, which well-informed enthusiasts such as Alphahawk like. One of the defining strengths mentioned is that Ester sinks. I need a line that allows my 1.5 to 3 grams jigs to sink to 20 feet and stay in that zone as much as possible. I use l...

Re: Types of Ester Lines: Varivas & Other Brands?

Never used an Ester line. Is it stronger or weaker than fluorocarbon of the same diameter? How about knot strength and abrasion resistance? Which type of line offers better slack line sensitivity? I'd be using it for smallies up to 6lbs in open water situations. I have been fishing ester a long tim...

Re: Types of Ester Lines: Varivas & Other Brands?

Just looking at the Varivas, there are: Ajing Master Ester Ajing master Super Trout Area Master Limited Super Trout Area ES2 Lemoni What are the differences and how does one decide? Also, any other brands of Ester you may recommend for performance or bang for the buck? Will be tackling trout up to ...

Re: Major Craft FSX vs FSG

Am I correct in assuming in the Major Craft rods FSX vs FSG is carbon vs glass ? Just rec'd a new Major Craft Firetail Area FAX-632SUL and very impressed. Interested in something in the 4'6" to 5' size for my new Shimano Vanford 500 reel. Mainly small trout and panfish,,,,, suggestions? Regards, Fr...

Re: MC Finetail Stream Glass rods

I have this rod in the spinning version. Have only fished with it once but I like it. Will be taking it to Arkansas in July to give it a good workout on the Little Red River. It casts get...of course the feel is much different than carbon rods. While it is rated UL I feel it will handle big trout wi...

Ive owned Daiwa Gekkabijin Aji rods.....much too rigid for me. Take a look at the 2018 Corto's and the Tict Rockin' Power.

Re: Ultralight rod storage in boat

I'm thinking about getting a Tenryu Lunakia 610 as an all around ultralight for panfish. I store my rods in the boat with rod sleeves and put them in a rod locker with tubes. Am I going to break this rod by doing that? I know the tips are very thin and I know anything can happen, just want to know ...

Re: Daysprout DSLT-2000SS

Does anybody know any info or have this reel? I see it was supposed to be released in late January but I haven’t seen any pre order links anywhere. According to Lurenews, it’s 2 steps above the previous Daysprout reel and is more for “experienced anglers”. Anybody know what reel it’s based on? I ju...

Re: New UL spinning reel?

I'd get the Luvias...much better reel than the Vanford for not a whole lot more money. Regards Hi, alphahawk. I saw your recent video on the new presso 1000. How would you compare the luvias to the new presso? Should i spend a bit more and go with the daiwa 21 presso lt1000s-p? The 2021 Presso reel...
