Tennessee grip question

I've got a Loomis 5'4" mag-light spin pole with Tennessee grip. Loomis sticks two black metal rings over the cork, to hold the reel in place, but I've always had trouble with them coming loose. How do you attach reels to your Tennessee grip? Thinking of trying to remove these metal "rings" and going...

Re: Fishing ole classics

Curado D is the one model of the "good ones" that I have never owned, or fished with. I know a very good fisherman who swears by the CU100D. I would love to own one someday. The sad thing is, I don't think gears are available anymore for that one. Maybe if I find one that hasn't been trashed out it'...

Difference between bail spring and bail trip lever spring Daiwa spinning reel

I'm wondering what the difference is? Reel model is RG2000XI but I'm sure it'd be the same for any daiwa spinner.

Re: Fishing ole classics

It turns out my favorite reels are Shimanos from the mid 90s up through the end of the 2000s. I do have a CH100SF, "the golden egg" just like slazmos, except she has some boat rash from fishing her in my younger years. I believe she was a display model from Gander Mountain in Roseville, a tackle sho...

question on a spinning reel add on

I was watching a u-tube today, and the guy in the video had a post coming off the non-handle side of his spinning reel body. It was a mid size daiwa, I'm guessing 2000 size. I've seen these on larger saltwater size reels to keep the reel up off the boat deck. I figured it'd be handy for the times I ...

Re: Shimano one way roller clutches

I was attempting to source some direct from NTN but they are proprietary, so only for purchase through shimano. 8-) I did find the older one way roller clutches such as used in bantam reels, and also in team daiwa x's sourced through China, $12 for 10 pieces!!

Anti-Reverse/Needle Bearing/Roller Bearing/Clutch, etc. etc.

I might be diving a little too far into semantics for some, but I just wanted to air this out for the true reel nerds. After speaking with an application engineer today from NTN, I believe the correct term is One-way clutch, and not needle bearing as I read so many times on this website. The differe...

Shimano one way roller clutches

I'm not sure if anyone will have an answer to this, but here goes.... I'm wondering how many sizes of roller clutches shimano uses in its low profile reels? And for purposes of the discussion could we start with reels from the CU200E7 and onward. (I am familiar with the older koyo one-way clutches f...

switching handle on new STci4+ 4000?

I've got whatever the newest version is of the stradic ci4+ and due to elbow injury was attempting to switch the handle to the opposite side of the reel body and I was having issues. Are both sides of the main gear threaded or was I missing something?

Looking for smaller siwash hooks in lieu of trebles

I'm looking for a source for siwash hooks I can use when I make my own inline spinners. I'm mainly creating lures very similar to #6, #9, and #15 panther martins (1/4 to 1/2 oz.) Any size or style of hook recommendations would be appreciated. I know gamakatsu makes a salt water looking one as I have...

Re: Trout spoon recommendations?

Thanks for the reccomendations, I just ordered $14 worth of the chinese spoons. I fish the upper midwest, mainly wisconsin and Minnesota trout streams. Inline spinners are what 99% of people throw and they work great but I figured after reading about spoons on here that they've got to be worth a try...

Trout spoon recommendations?

I'm looking to try some spoons for stream trout fishing. I fish medium to large trout streams, targeting browns from 12 inches to 22 inches. There is the possibility of trout up to 28 inches on this river. Any spoons I can buy in the US at tackle shops or links to a good spoon for sale on the interw...
