I know a guy looking for a tension knob for an old greenie, anyone know any superseding parts that will work if he can't find an original?

Q on a Bantam MGL
I bought one when they first came out from a shop in Japan. It was making noise every few casts on a trip a month ago. I took it apart and added oil and grease to all the bearings. I also looked at the weird spring in the reel but couldn't make heads or tales of it as it's a new feature not on older...

There's a reason Denny Brauer won the classic on them and Tak still uses a bunch of them.

Re: Looking for a quality snap.
The 25 are smaller than you think. What has been written is true. More reliable because they can't open and easier to use because you don't have to open them. It's a win/win. Snaps are outdated technology. I figure only reason these aren't more popular here is because they are not JDM which means n...

Re: Looking for a quality snap.
I repeat, just buy the clips to test. You will never use another snap again. There is zero advantage to the snap, the clips are smaller, more streamlined, and if you want a swivel, clip on a spro and you are set. Again, snaps in the #20-50 poind size are usually difficult to deal with. Girlfriend l...

Wow. I can't believe Diawa sunk to Chinas level. They just ordered a Shimano and knocked it off. I guess they're trying to be the best by copying the best.

Re: Pre-serviced a new reel
The bearings are fine. You don't need to flush them, usually only a drop of oil to loosen them up. In my experience if you acetone a spool bearing dry and only add one drop of oil it could start screaming at you at any random moment. Long casts made with the reel on long rods over and over again you...

Pre-serviced a new reel
I just got a new Curado K 200XG that I plan to use for frogs with heavy braid. Slazmo has often mentioned pre-servicing a reel being important and affecting the life of a reel(or at least the important internals). So I decided last night when I couldn't sleep to tear the reel apart. The first thing ...

I was looking for recommendations for a tripod to use when shore fishing. Mainly to take a picture with a fish when I'm alone. I got a samsung galaxy. TIA.

Looking for a quality snap.
I ordered a bulk pack of snaps off ebay from China. Needless to say the quality is lacking. What is considered a premium brand, or what brands have you had good experiences with? I generally use a duo-lock snap, but am open to trying different styles.

Re: shimano 8 gear ratio
65lb that's crazy... Whats the diameter of that rope  I just couldn't fathom using anything over 40lb on a baitcaster. 65# braid is pretty standard when throwing frogs in heavy vegetation in the US. Lock the drag slam in a hard hookset and winch in the fish in. Gear buzz develops sometime afte...

Re: shimano 8 gear ratio
Yeah, that's another big issue, line digging into the spool. I use a lot of 50 and 65lb. I've used everything from 20lb. braid and up, but that light stuff really digs in on a hard hookset or when fighting a large fish. Also the 65 manages so much better when skipping heavy lures. I used some lighte...
