Long cast shimano spinning rod
Being a shore angler fishing for walleyes, whites/hybrids, and smallmouth I would like to get a rod that gives me the distance to cover water. I typically throw a 1/4 oz to 3/8 jig head with plastic or spoon. I would like to maximize my distance without having to maximize my effort. Usually have 10l...

Re: A question for D.R. and other Revo users...
The only reason I've kept my revo stx is that I thought one day I would "see the light". Never liked the overall feel of it, and always thought it was way to finicky to adjust. So...I've made it a dedicated "one trick pony".....throwing 3/8 oz jighead and plastic to hybrids. In that capacity it has ...

Re: poor man's Shimano Stradic FI Review.
There are a couple of guys on another forum that had probs with the bail closing during the cast. Hope you continue to have good luck with that reel cause I am seriously considering getting one. In the meantime, the two daiwa excellers I have, merit the best buy award for $54.95.

Need advice on nighttime bass fishing
Just recently started nighttime bass fishing and this is what I know so far. I've seen a bite around 2hrs before sunset then a lull and picks up around 2 hrs. after sunset. By then I'm a zombie and it is time to go home and catch some zzzzzz's. I'll pick it up again around 4am. Most of my dark time ...

I'll second that shimano crucial. I have the 7'2" M dropshot paired with a daiwa exceller 1500. Very sweet setup...for the money.

Re: New calais 100 maintanance
Thanks for the confirmation on the calais. Everytime, everyday I use it, all I could think about is wow...I now have two reels....a tdx and calais that are awesome and hardly anyone comments on these reels. What do I know ?

Re: Daiwa Peanut outing.
OK, monkey see monkey do. I bought one Daiwa Peanut to try. I caught bass, drum , channel cat, walleye, rock bass and finally broke off on a fish. This was in two outings. In using the pliers to remove hook from channel cat, the hook broke. Seemed quite fragile. But, the lure catches fish in a time ...

New calais 100 maintanance
Was wondering if there is a product recommended to keep the exterior looking shiny and new ? Also, any other basic tips to keeping the reel functioning like new. Very happy with this purchase. I really think the size is perfect. I chose this reel over the core mainly on track record.

Read something about the reel is not servicable for routine oiling of spool shaft bearings ? Something about needing a special tool ?

Questions on the calais 100A
I've got a daiwa tdx that I truly feel is an all around reel. The revo stx comes in second, and the metanium xt a close third. Was wondering what type of increase in performance to expect in a calais 100A over what I already have ? Please advise.

Re: Opinions on the new Ardent baitcaster
OK, here is the deal. I demo'd an Ardent caster in the parking lot a few weeks ago. Was fairly impressed. I then urged the store clerk to take it out fishing. His report was favorable, but said the reel was not worth the sticker price of $249.99. I asked him why Cabelas has them at $179.99 and he sa...
