Re: Looking for bfs blank or rod LXF 2 piece
6’3” is fine too. That Links rod looks to be a one piece. Seems more like a ML rating with the 1/16 - 3/8 ounce rating. Have you cast with this rod? I also had a hard time finding this model available. Is it last years model, that was renamed for this year? Thanks There is a one piece and two piece...

A little shorter than you mentioned but take a look at the Fenwick LINKS 63CL-2J.

Re: Your ideal BFS rod action?
I like the fast action bass style rods. They cast low weights just as easy as whippy trout rods but have better hooksets for single hook baits.

Re: Ester or PE Braid?
Do they make heavier test for bass fishing, say 6 lb.? Is there simply no market for ester currently outside of mackerel/trout fishing or is there a reason for no heavier test options and lack of use in bass fishing?

Re: Finding a "Light" BFS rod???
No big deal, just makes me wonder about using braid w/ leader knots. I would hate to accidentally reel a knot through and break a guide or worse the rod tip. Almost seems 4lb-6lb fluoro might be a better idea, even though I still think I don't use enough leader length for it to matter with UL/L sty...

Re: BFS and Trout baitcast combos
My BFS combos pull double duty as I fish the same set ups for both bass and trout. What makes BFS so special is the same set up can cast a tiny fly at a trout but still have the power to land big bass.

Re: What rod caught you the most fish in 2018?
Fenwick Aces 63L caught the most for me by a decent margin. It's an extremely versatile rod that can do a little of everything. The majority of fish came on the LBR, Mid-Strolling, Flick Shake, and Spybait.

Re: Do I need a BFS reel?
What about an Aldebaran 30 MGL? It should appeal to someone familiar with the Met MGL looking to go lighter. According to Jun it is best at 3/16 oz and up which a 1/8 oz spinnerbait would wall within. Ned rigs too. It might have too much cross over with the Met MGL. I honestly don't know but it loo...

Re: If I need new BFS reel?
Fenwick Japan is owned by Pure Fishing. I have some of the latest models and they're all made in China. I have a few rods that are made in Japan as well. There is no difference in build quality between the Fenwicks and the MIJ rods I have. The one difference however is the Fenwicks are made from bet...

Re: the "if you could only buy one BFS rod"
Fenwicks are really nice too. I have fished some Glorious rods and I like the Fenwicks a little better but I'm sure Ultimas are amazing. Since you're a Shimano guy my guess is you're pairing it with an Aldebaran? There is a unique synergy with an Aces BFS rod and an Aldebaran as the rods were develo...

Re: Who is using BFS casting gear for trout/panfish
You mean the troutmagnet jig head with a flash J? Or both troutmagnet and separately the Flash J? Never seen the Flash J before. With Troutmagnet, they actually weigh substantially more than 1/64th oz if I remember correctly. I remember being surprised at how far they cast and then finding out that...

Yes, 64th trout magnet and 1" Flash J. If I remember right it weighs 1.25 g.ultralight wrote:Southpaw619. Beautiful!! Minijig?
