Re: Falcon Cara Head Turner Casting Rod

I put my hands on the new lowriders a week or so ago. I was definitely not impressed, to the point of being disappointed. The guides, while fuji k frames, were very weak and easy to bend. Not sure what metal they are, but I can easily see them getting bent and breaking off. Overall fit and finish wa...

Shimano Expride 172H-FR Question

Earlier this year I picked up a first generation Expride 172H-FR (7'-2") from a local sportsman show and want to know if anyone is familiar with this specific rod. It actually has FROG labeled on the blank. I like the rod, and clearly they were trying to clear out leftover first gen rods as I got it...

Shimano Expride Mod

I have some gen 1 expride rods, but never liked not having a hook hanger. I tried some of the hook hangers you strap to the blank with rubber rings, and really didn't care for those and didn't have much luck with them. So I took a 1/8" drill bit and made a hook hanger on the reel seat trigger. Works...

Re: More Parabolic Punch Rod

I posted about this rod in punching thread but deserves to be mentioned again here if you’re still looking or want another. New zbone 76 heavy MOD. Parabolic, ultra sensitive, and just addicting when you pick it up and starting flipping, punching what have you. Best rod I’ve ever used for those app...

Re: Jig Rod Recomendation

That's great, glad I could help. I wish I would have paid more attention to the handle length increase... i would have went with the 7'-3" model as well.

Re: Jig Rod Recomendation

I took this pic for another member to help show the loading characteristics of the MH. This is the new Z-bone MH 7' model. Was a little hard to capture by myself, but if it helps anyone out... here ya go. It's labeled modified fast, to me its between fast and moderate fast if that makes any sense. h...

Re: Jig Rod Recomendation

I don't believe I've seen anyone post about the new zbone 7'3 and that is a shame. If it is better then the older model with just a little bit less heat in the tip then indeed it would be the bomb. I ordered a few of the new Z-bones in December... really wish I would have put the 7-3H in my cart to...

Re: 7.1 or 7.3 ft rod for hollow bodied frogs

I'm using a 7'3H powered rod but the reason is the tip & power it has. I use a Kistler HE3. Walks the frog well, relatively accurate rod, loads slowly and a ton of power. I would also second the HE3 H.... I have been using the 7' version. To me, this is the perfect chatterbait rod, but works well o...

Re: cranking rod

I like rods in the 7' range. I will mostly be banking the banks with 1.0 and 1.5 square bills. Graphite: GLoomis E6 CBR 845 St Croix Avix X 7' MH Moderate (I have this rod and really impressed. great for your needs) Dobyns 704cb From what I researched, the 845 and St. Croix 7' MH moderate crankbait...

Can you give us a little more info? Like in are you target casting, long open water casting? Do you prefer shorter or longer rods?

Re: Kistler Helium 3 Medium vs ML Spinning

I would agree... I have the 7' med and its a powerful stick. ML seems to fit your applications, especially if you are using braid to fluoro.

Re: Shimano Expride glass rods

I have the 7-2 composite expride... it's not 100% glass, it's a composite rod similar to say a dobyns "glass" rod. It's a great stick in terms of quality, strength, etc. I got it for chatterbaits and it does that well, but i personally settled on my kistler h3 H 7'-0" rod as my go to chatterbait rod...

Re: Dobyns Champion XP Cranking Rod 8' MH 805

You might want to check the handle length on the 805 compared with what you're currently using. I bought the 765CB and returned it because the handle length is very short. The 805 shows 14.5 inches in TW. which is only 1 inch longer than the 765, to me that might still be too short. I know the 805 g...
