Re: 6" Senkos - How do you fish yours ?

Mostly texas rigged. Sometimes I even throw a weight on there to get it deep and get longer casts.

Got to fish the new Loomis...I love it. Highly recommended to anyone in the same decision as me.

Re: Help decide gear ratios

You know...I'm not sure. 13 fishing doesn't advertise their IPT. I will say that when I fish plastics, all the action I put in my bait is with the rod. I never use the reel handle to work my bait back to the boat. My main concern is that when I make a long cast and/or a fish picks up my bait and swi...

Re: Question regarding Alpha SV 105 for inshore use

Hey Congoman...I agree that you might want to look into a larger capacity reel. Have you seen the Curado 300J for a small reel with higher line capacity? http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Shimano_Curado_300_E_Casting_Reels/descpage-SC3ER.html Another option is a round baitcaster. If you have the money....

Re: Help decide gear ratios

Thanks Gambler. Thanks for the quick reply! I think we are confusing each other with the Left and Right hand thing...I just removed it to keep it simple :D So...do you think the 7.3:1 is good for plastics? Or should I consider making them all 8.1:1 reels? What about the other setups? I guess I know ...

Help decide gear ratios

Hey guys...I'm probably going to be picking up a few 13 Fishing Concept "A" reels during the holiday sales this year. My question has to do with gear ratios. I know I want higher gear ratios but can't decide between the 7:3.1 and the 8.1:1 versions. Here are the techniques I will be buying for and w...

Re: Looking for a worm rod

Made it into the tackle store yesterday and got to pull on a few rods. The Zodias is definitely stiffer than the E6X. Both very light, but the E6X had a lighter tip and I think would throw lighter baits much better. I also pulled on some Dobyn's Champion rods. Very nice rods but I didn't think they ...

Re: Looking for a worm rod

Thanks for the responses guys.

How do the Zodias rods work at casting light baits? Does the tip load up nice?

Looking for a worm rod

Hey everyone. I am looking for a new rod that will handle texas rig worms with 1/4oz to 3/4oz weights, carolina rig worms with 1/4oz to 3/4oz weights, and senkos - weightless or with a small weight. I recently finished up a trip to El Salto where I used one of the loaner rods which was a TFO 7' MH a...

Re: El Salto and Lake Picachos rod and reel combos

Thanks for all the input guys. Looks like I need to rethink a few setups for this trip. I don't want to be under-gunned.

El Salto and Lake Picachos rod and reel combos

Hey everyone. I am hoping to get some insight from someone that has been to Lake El Salto and/ or Lake Picachos in Mexico. I am heading there in the middle of May and would like to make sure I am 100% ready with my rods and reels. I’m a little concerned about a couple of my setups being too light an...

Re: Looking for a spinnerbait rod

Well...I ended up with the Phenix Recon 2. I thought it had the best features for the price. I got it in 7'1" MH and even though it's rated 8-17lb, I feel comfortable with running 20lb on it for abrasion resistance in the thick cover on El Salto and backing the drag down a little bit to keep it in t...

Looking for a spinnerbait rod

Hey guys, I am in the market for a new spinnerbait setup. I'll be fishing Lake El Salto in a couple months and it was recommended that I focus on a 7' MH or a 7' H rod for fishing 20lb mono. I've narrowed it down to: Shimano Cumara Spinnerbait Casting Rod 6'10" MH Xfast http://www.tacklewarehouse.co...
