Re: Want to try a higher end spinning reel
Anyone looking for a "higher end" spinning reel should give the Certate/Luvias Airity/Exist a try. Daiwa's MQ reels are simply amazing, and the Certate is probably best value on the market right now.

Rod for I Waver 74, Picro, 3-5g Hard baits
Looking for a dedicated rod to throw 3-5 gram hard baits, mainly the i-waver 74sss and other lures w/o a weight transfer system. Maybe mid-strolling 1-2 gram jigheads + 3" plastics etc. What L-UL spinning rod fits the bill? Something with a solid tip? Looking at the JDM adrenas and possibly Glorious...

Re: What would happen to Megabass without Yuki Ito?
You also have to remember, the future for JDM bass tackle was cut short when the Japanese government put largemouth and smallmouth bass on the alien species list. I think that could be what started started or sped up the export boom of JDM tackle. Do you know the actual policy regulating LM/SM in J...

Re: What would happen to Megabass without Yuki Ito?
For real. I am seeing a ton of talk about the P5 rods, way way more then I have ever seen about any higher-end rod. Even on some of the reddit fishing subs, places where "get you a ugly stick" is like every other post, there is a ton of interest in the P5 rods. What would be interesting and perhaps...

Re: 19 Certate vs 21 (new) Exsence
Once you get into this class of reels, both manufacturers produce awesome products. Their smoothness is just incredible. The way I see it is this - going up the Shimano lineup you get incremental advances, whereas the Daiwa monocoque METAL reels (Certate/Exist and now Luvias Airity) is sort of a re...

Re: Favorite braid for spinning reels
I agree with the ratings of the YKG G Soul being way off. I have the 22lb and it breaks at about 10lbs. I have the 50lb and it breaks at about 15lbs. The line breaks in the middle, not at the knots. It is really smooth and thin, but unfortunately way over rated in line strength. For comparison. Sup...

Re: Favorite braid for spinning reels
I realize my needs may be different than yours, as I do not have a need for spinning line that is more than 10 -15# test. YGK is true to rating, meaning it actually breaks at 14lbs. Guarantee smackdown 8# is breaking at over 14lbs etc. 14lb YGK is thinner than 8lb Jbraid x8, for instance. Noticeabl...

This bears repeating - YGK Upgrade x8 - 14 or 16lb. Best spinning braid and now available domestically from tackle trap.

Re: Olympic Vigore
Managed to snag one of the first batch of 610MLs, got it today. First impression - this is not a DS rod. Compared to my Expride 610ML, it seems to be about a power heavier through the tip and mid section. Probably perfect for 4" flukes, finesse swimbaits and jigs...maybe a finesse hard jerkbait rod ...

Re: Favorite braid for spinning reels
Just go by the PE rating - 16lb is PE 0.8 - perfect for finesse bass fishing where you're tying 4 - 8lb floro leaders. I found the 14lb (0.6) too thin, and the 22lb too thick.
I didn't do any tests but I believe the lb ratings are fairly accurate, unlike US labeling.

I've gone from 8lb jbraid x8 to 16lb YGK x8 Upgrade - it truly is an upgrade in every possible way.

The conversation has been about the behavior of the guy in the YouTube video for the last 2 pages, and you are one of the primary reasons for the conversation going in that direction to begin with. No one is attacking you or that guy, or any other member, for that matter. A differing opinion is jus...

While he did break down 2 reels and give his conclusions, that's not all he did. There was a little gratuitous drama attached. The poster's disappointment was slightly disingenuous imho. While he is entitled to his opinion, as we all are, the exaggerated response seemed a bit childish to me. That s...
