Re: Shimano Expride A Casting Rod 7'2" Med Lt+

I would be interested to hear whether this could be good for 1/4 oz tubes - exposed hook of course - on say 10lb. FC. Just not sure if it has the backbone being labeled as a medium-light plus? It will do that job extremely well - I use mine for 110s and 1/4 - 5/16oz light wire football jigs + trail...

Re: A note on fish care

Chapter 2: This morning a largemouth of about 3 lbs just crushes my EG Flat Force 4, again deep in the throat and again with the blood. This time, I took Bronzeye’s advice and release the fish directly back into the lake. Fish seemed lively enough and I remained in the area long enough to observer ...

It'd be nice if this move leads to Shimano bringing over more of their BFS rods to the U.S. I'm pretty sure the only rod they currently offer is the 172ml BFS Expride.
Yeah and that's hardly a "BFS" rod imo!

But yes, larger moving baits, a-rigs, big cranks, top waters, and flipping jigs are awesome on this rod.
Would you say the lure rating is accurate? What's the low and high end this rod can throw in your opinion?

TIA.

Try a double split ring under a Siglett with the up sized hook.
Interesting - the hook won't swing up and catch under the wing?

Re: Want to try a higher end spinning reel

I’ve never owned a daiwa spinning reel but boy the amount of love for the certate I may just have to get one and then either the exsense or Stella (leaning heavily towards the exsence) You'll get the Certate then either the Airity or Exist - that's my prediction anyway :D Shimano does have that per...

Re: Want to try a higher end spinning reel

Anyone looking for a "higher end" spinning reel should give the Certate/Luvias Airity/Exist a try. Daiwa's MQ reels are simply amazing, and the Certate is probably best value on the market right now.

Rod for I Waver 74, Picro, 3-5g Hard baits

Looking for a dedicated rod to throw 3-5 gram hard baits, mainly the i-waver 74sss and other lures w/o a weight transfer system. Maybe mid-strolling 1-2 gram jigheads + 3" plastics etc. What L-UL spinning rod fits the bill? Something with a solid tip? Looking at the JDM adrenas and possibly Glorious...

Re: What would happen to Megabass without Yuki Ito?

You also have to remember, the future for JDM bass tackle was cut short when the Japanese government put largemouth and smallmouth bass on the alien species list. I think that could be what started started or sped up the export boom of JDM tackle. Do you know the actual policy regulating LM/SM in J...

Re: What would happen to Megabass without Yuki Ito?

For real. I am seeing a ton of talk about the P5 rods, way way more then I have ever seen about any higher-end rod. Even on some of the reddit fishing subs, places where "get you a ugly stick" is like every other post, there is a ton of interest in the P5 rods. What would be interesting and perhaps...

Re: 19 Certate vs 21 (new) Exsence

Once you get into this class of reels, both manufacturers produce awesome products. Their smoothness is just incredible. The way I see it is this - going up the Shimano lineup you get incremental advances, whereas the Daiwa monocoque METAL reels (Certate/Exist and now Luvias Airity) is sort of a re...

Re: Favorite braid for spinning reels

I agree with the ratings of the YKG G Soul being way off. I have the 22lb and it breaks at about 10lbs. I have the 50lb and it breaks at about 15lbs. The line breaks in the middle, not at the knots. It is really smooth and thin, but unfortunately way over rated in line strength. For comparison. Sup...

Re: Favorite braid for spinning reels

I realize my needs may be different than yours, as I do not have a need for spinning line that is more than 10 -15# test. YGK is true to rating, meaning it actually breaks at 14lbs. Guarantee smackdown 8# is breaking at over 14lbs etc. 14lb YGK is thinner than 8lb Jbraid x8, for instance. Noticeabl...

And yea, it's like your inside my brain on the thought process. Certate widely praised, but would I be missing out on new Shimano tech with the new Exsence.
You'll be missing exactly NOTHING - get the Certate!!!
