Re: Ultra Smooth

I wouldn't say fake, but what state are the control bearings in? Can you prove that they're brand new out of factory state vs their "you beauty" double banger bearings - which I'd dare say are in ultimate condition for best results? I mean a dirty stock bearing out of a Curado i-PG spin for >/= 40 s...

Re: Ultra Smooth

Needs to be more info shown for those bearings and that comparison, I couldn't be too convinced by those claims without seeing the proof.

You could show 2 reels side by side - one stock that'll spin for 5 seconds (factory greased) and the other bearings flushed for 50 seconds.

Re: Shimano Bantam MGL drag washer.

It's like European cars and their soft discs and extra bite brake pads that leave wheels blacker than 10 black things.

Dartanium had its day and its obsolete. Even their fabric drag washers that come in the SLX stock are better around.

Re: Shimano Bantam MGL drag washer.

Put some 1000 / 1500 wet and dry sand paper on a sheet of thick glass, plenty of water on the wet and dry (and keep it wet while doing this) and the main gear bottom side to paper and do figure 8 motions with minimal pressure - this will clean any corrosion / gunk stubbornly stuck to the bottom of t...

Re: Ultra Smooth

More to go wrong...

I'd prefer larger thickness races and many more smaller diameter balls.

Re: This is a first for me

If you want something even better import one of these from Australia. I sell them at work on a daily basis and have 2 on both of my trailers. https://www.purpleline.com.au/saracen-ultra/ However you still need to secure the tongue to the tow bar receiver, which is another lock in itself. We have a fa...

Line roller bearing not the anti-reverse.
Well they're definitely not greased from fak-toor-eey... Hence why they flog out so quickly. Good business plan IMHO.

I'm not sure if you're in a temperate or cold climate, but be careful with any type of geese on your anti-reverse roller bearings, as it will cause slippage in very cold weather. Experience is the best teacher.....
Most are from factory, except for spinning.

Re: Gear grease opinions

It's good stuff, just keep in mind shear teeth need a stickier option to hold in place, unless it's a finesse reel. Otherwise on frame bearings and idler gears and other smooth parts ots pretty damn good! Haven't been doing much lately due to the boy and other things like this bloody house and it's ...

Re: Possible to clean corrosion on gears?

Paint the inner surfaces with lanolin, it's a natural fat and won't affect anything and sheds water like nothing else and is naturally dielectric - protects from corrosion like nothing else I've used. I know people and myself have tried dipping brass gears in different solutions like vinegar, vinega...
