Re: Line recommendation for topwater/jerkbait combo

I use 30lb braid to a fluoro or mono leader. Usually 14-18lb Shooter or 18-22lb Defier Armillo. Getting good action out of a rip bait is easy with no stretch braid. This is the ticket. ;) I will only add check the dia of the braid. I look for 10lb mono equivalent so the lure runs near max listed de...

Re: New Poison Adrena

Good Evening The 6'11" can anyone comment on it as a jerkbait rod. I use a Rapala concept ti 6'11" which is a med / fast 1/4 - 1/2oz it is a soft med rod, and is my go jerkbait rod for visions 110 slender pointer 112 and any sub 100 size baits. I have handled the first gen Adrena and really like th...

Re: Is there a better deep jerkbait than the staysee 90

Good Evening I am late to this party; but needed to confirm my results fishing this bait from last year. This bait preformed better then expected. Duel Hardcore longbill jerkbait 90. It is the same wait as the stayee at 7/16 depth 10 - 12 feet compared to 8 - 10 of the stayee. Price is cheaper (comp...

Re: Your favorite rod taper for Jerkbaits

Good Evening taper and power together determine my application I voted fast, i am using a Med / fast 1/4 - 1/2oz rated rod and the fast tip gives me the desired lure action and the med power has enough flex to handle fish on treble hooks. If I were fishing Med - MH rod 1/ 4 - 1oz I would search for ...

Re: Daiwa SV103 or 50th Anniversary opinions

I fish traps pretty often and my goto is a Fuego with a zillion PE special spool and floro. IMHO you should get a different spool for the sv103. I have two of those reels and I would even be willing to mail you a Steez long cast spool to use in that reel. It’s astronomical how well it cast and the ...

Re: Daiwa SV103 or 50th Anniversary opinions

It has been a year so here is a quick update. I was able to source both the J Dream 6.3 and the SV103 6.3 from ebay. I have had a ¾ of a season with the sv103 and 6hrs with the J dream. There is a notable difference between these two reels the J Dream feels smoother and casts noticeable further. I a...

Re: New Tatula100

Good Evening have you seen the latest video from Brent Erhler... I like they way he break down lakes and fishes so i do pay attention to his equipment choices and he fishes 200+ days a year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7HWMNPEM20 He is switching to the tatula 100 as his work horse reel over the...

Re: Daiwa Zillion TW HD 2018

Thanks to everyone for their input.

I will take a hard look at the HLC seems to have the features we want with the bonus of having a 1516 spool vs 1520 spool.

Re: Daiwa Zillion TW HD 2018

Thanks AquaFTM45 This reel would be going on a 7'9" rod. i have noticed in the past 6oz reels don't balance out the system quite as well as 7oz+ reels. Upgrading the spool would seem to compliment the reel and my fishing better and is a consideration. Upgrading the spool would cost more than the Mor...

Re: Daiwa SV103 or 50th Anniversary opinions

Reels would be for horizontal fishing... cranks, jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, top water, swimjigs, and frogs. weight will range from mid to heavy 3/8's to 1ounch primarily 3/8 to 5/8.
Line = braid
Rod = 7'+
