Who is recommended for vat cleaning and reoiling Daiwa reels these day?
I hate to post this but did a few searches and didn't find what im looking for. Southwestern Parts and Service used to do all my Shimano and Daiwa reel vat cleaning and reoiling and repairs. I have just been told they are not cleaning and/or messing with Daiwa reels anymore due to parts problems... ...

Megabass Orochi Aklys OR Destroyer Warhammer
Need a little help from you Megabass fans. I run loomis NRX exclusively and my brother has really come to like the Orochi series. He has a Spec-R, Perfect Pitch, and Leviathan. I was going to get him a new Megabass rod for Christmas as he has been talking about get the Aklys to fill a little space b...

Re: Need little help on NRX choice
David, is there a particular make/model cap that I can get on amazon or do I need to just go raid walmarts shelves, the one you show looks to be the exact size you need.

Re: Need little help on NRX choice
Ok I'm gonna try the end cap on the 894 for sure I don't plan on selling it. I'm still thinking about the 873. Would it be overkill to have the 853, 873, and 894? There is a big difference for me between the 854 and 894. I'm just wondering if I get the 873, if I would end up getting rid of something...

Need little help on NRX choice
Will keep it short and simple. Texas Rigs fished just about in every situation from shallow no cover to crazy stumps and deep water. I have a 854 and just got a 894. No comparison here the 894 feels like twice the rod far as power goes but is a little tip heavy and does wear you down as the day goes...

Re: Have NRX 854c, need something slightly less tip heavy
thanks for all the replies everyone, I think for the heck of it im gonna order the rubber caps!. its not really that bad but like some of your guys have said, if your used to something then switch you notice a change pretty bad. Mine was obviously going form a Calcutta to a steez, big weight change.

Re: Have NRX 854c, need something slightly less tip heavy
gonna research the 873, hopefully I can find someone that has both or can give some more insight. The steez sure is light, that's partially my fault for switching to these reals but I switched over from 15' Calcutta Conquests. The steez would cast noticeably farther across the board and was like a f...

Re: Have NRX 854c, need something slightly less tip heavy
I hate to add weight, that's the reason I got away from my Calcutta's to begin with... overall weight.
the 873 might be a pretty decent option, I missed that one. it would be the same length as the 854...
anyone have both

Have NRX 854c, need something slightly less tip heavy
Hi, I use a steez sv on a nrx 854C. I love the setup and power of the rod but with the steez I am a little more tip heavy then I like. I want to go a NRX that comes as close to the power of the 854 as possible but maybe a little less tip weight with the super light reel. Would a Magbass 843c be the ...

Gear Ratios and handle torque feel
Quick question. I was fishing my brothers 8.1 gear ratio reel today and love it except it seems to require a little more force to turn the handle when reeling in a large bait than I'm accustomed to when comparing to my reel which is 4.8 ratio. I would like to switch reels but wanted to ask. I can ge...

Re: Need Advice on Daiwa Reel for Christmas present
Ok gonna narrow it down to the two steez so I don't worry everyone to death. How is the new sv a better way to go than the older ex? Then he ex is on sale for just $50 more than the sv.
Gonna rely on you guys on this they both look great?

Re: Need Advice on Daiwa Reel for Christmas present
One retraint I am having on the new SV is the line capacity on the spool. Do you guys think that's gonna be an issue. My brother runs 14lb at a minimum Flourocarbon, and maybe a little larger on others. The EX I believe has a deeper spool with a little more capacity. With that being said my new conq...

Re: Need Advice on Daiwa Reel for Christmas present
We're talking the SV's here right? http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Daiwa_Steez_SV_Casting_Reels/descpage-DSV.html They are all in stock. I'd probably get him the high speed version just because I know he likes that in the other reels he has. Keep'em coming guys I wish someone had tried one of these b...
