Re: St. Croix stagnating?

I'm in the UK and still in the EU for a few more minutes. They sell them here and are fairly popular as a premium brand. They are very popular in Holland too. I imagine they're less popular in Germany as they don't make many suitable longer rods, which are more commonly used in countries with limit...

Re: New 2020 Shimano Metanium

Did I miss anything in the article where he states the official Shimano "70" size reel? I can see a lot of people being upset about this.. wanting a 150 Met!! Polymer worm gear, high bred break pipe, CI4 star drag... Shaving a few grams off to offset the brass gearing :) Translated: "The line capac...

Re: Antares A Casting Reel

The reel is a casting beast but I used the combo with 120 dou realis and some other stuff. I’d like to know whose used the reel with braid? I am thinking about going in that direction I‘m using the reel for European perch fishing with 8lb Sunline Asegai braid on a medium power rod. 2 brakes on, mos...

Re: Quick Shimano 2016 Aldebaran BFS question....

1) The green oil is a “bfs“ oil for the spool bearings and has a lower viscosity than the blue which I assume is meant for every other bearing in the reel. 2) + 3) I‘d base both on the sound when spinning the bearings. Spool bearings will need oil sooner than the other bearings. I’d flush and re-oil...

Re: Point Blank rods?

Picking out the components and doing it yourself is half the fun. I really need to finish my last 3 rods... Agreed. Hiring a builder is like paying someone to f*** your girl 😅😂 I have a point blank sitting here waiting patiently for my mini lathe setup to be finished so I can start making trim part...

Re: Any 2020 Shimano reel leaks.....

I think it would have to be? Since the frame is solid aluminum I am not sure where else they could put the dial aside from that one removable "sideplate" piece of the frame. I think so too. They could make some sort of cutout in the frame but then the dial would have to stay in while the DC unit ca...

Re: Blank recommendation.

The 7‘ MH Point Blank comes with 630g of power if you haven’t seen my thread about it. The balance is outstanding and therefore if feels very light in hand. I’d also say its taper is a tad faster than the x-ray mb736 from looking at the curves on the rodhouse.fr website. Power wise it should be quit...

Re: Point blank 701MHF

I received the 701MF and my measurements are:

61g / 2.15oz
RDA of 520g at 71“ working length
Butt: 14.36mm
Tip: 1.73mm
No more „cat tongue“ finish, its sanded smooth

Seems like I’ve found the MH rod I was looking for after all 😅

Re: Daiwa Project T 2020

Do the US Pros beat around the bush avoiding talking about the reel or is it random footage they just had lying around 🤷🏻‍♂️ This video was made for Japan, not the US. The American guys are just in it because of the facial recognition factor. US tourney guys are like full-on celebrities over there....

Re: Point blank 701MHF

I was speaking with Point Blank on another topic and eventually found myself getting the correct RDA information for this blank. If they haven't already, they will be correcting the published data. Power: 630gr AA: 68˚ Wt: 2.36oz Butt Dia: 14.2mm Tip size: 5.0 12 in. up from butt dia: 14.0mm Balanc...
