Re: Aldebaran BFS line options

I know I'm bringing this thread back from the dead. BUT, for more info for people I will add my 2 cents. I got a Curado, 70 and have been using Power Pro Super Slick 2 in 15lb test with excellent results. It's a round braid, and I haven't had any issues with it at all. It's being used with a Kuying ...

Re: St. Croix stagnating?

Those orange glass rods from a few years ago are nice, and they came out with the Mojo fiberglass rods that are cool too.

Re: GLX 892C JWR

I have an 802c IMX-Pro. The lighter Ned Rigs might be too light, but if you use 1/8oz head plus the bait you could probably bet buy. I use my 802 mostly for bitsy bug jigs 1/4oz & 5/16, poppers, 3.5" jerkbaits, Neko rigs, and 3' swimbaits on a ball head jig. It's a perfect action for these types of ...

Re: Z Bone vs NRX

I have experience with the IMX-Pro 802c. I am very impressed with that rod. Is really well balanced, sensitive, and casts really accurately, and it's beautifully made. I think the NRX might have a different shape handle. The Fuji on the IMX-Pro is super comortable. I've fished the 802c in E6x too, a...

Re: Kistler 2020 prices up!

I seem to remember Kistler saying they were going to be coming back with new blanks they were making themselves. However the way they wording it it seems unclear if NFC is making the blanks, or Kistler are buyig the material from them and they are rolling them... It's been some time since I've had ...

Re: Swim Jigs....when to use them???

I use them all year long. I drag them slooooow on bottom, retrieve just ticking the bottom, in the middle of the water column, and sometimes shallow working them though brush and weeds. They also work great above submerged weeds, letting them tick the tops and lightly ripping the free.

Re: Who regularly throws small 3/16-1/4 spinnerbaits?

In the spring I really like throwing a size one or two safety pin blade setup (like a Beelte Spin uses) on a 1/8- 3/16oz ball head with a Fat Albert grub or the end of a stick worm. It's a very subtle action and catches lots of bass, and a fair about of Pike too.

Re: Swim Jig Trailers...what are you using?

Cabela's Swim Minnow in 5". Bluegill color for dark jigs, and shad color for light swimjigs.
I only use Boss Jig heads and Dirty Jigs skirts, and I assemble them myself.

Re: Go to jigs for largemouth

My favorite full size bass jig is the War Eagle flipping jig. Favorite Swim Jig are assembled by me from Boss heads and dirty jigs skirts, favorite small jig is the Bitsy Flip, and favorite finesse jigs are Jewell Spider, Santone texas finnesse, and War Eagle heavy Finesse. These are all time tested...

Re: Best action for a jig rod

I've used Dobyns Fury and Sierra rods that have quite a moderate action that is called fast by Dobyns, fast Loomis rods, and ex fast G Loomis and St Croix rods. I find they all work pretty well. I tend to enjoy the G Loomis MBR and slightly faster JWR tapers the most for jig and T rigs. Over all, wh...

I've heard of the Pixy reels , but never the rods. Were they matched BFS systems?

Re: Kistler 2020 prices up!

i scanned the site after seeing this thread. Looks to me the HE's are on a new blank?? The cost question seems to be secondary. I have many positive posts about my HE3 but these rods don't appear the same blank so until we get someone fishing them who knows. zbone looks on the same blank but they c...

McCoy copoly

Anyone using McCoys ? I switched to it about 5 years ago from trilene XL for leaders, and find it really great.
On occasion I use 15 or 17lb straight for jigs. It's a great limp line that casts great, and holds up well.
I don't hear many people mention it.
