Re: Heavy hard bait rod
I've got a 6'10 M poison adrena, great rod but for these heavier baits we'd be looking at a H and the action on those is different, a lot more beef in the tip. A bit too much to keep them pinned good. Found a valkyrie in europe looks good, same price as a conquest MBR, will have to do some thinking ...

Re: Heavy hard bait rod
Thanks for the quick replies guys ! Have got a couple of loomis rods in 4 power (JWR), personnaly wouldn't want to go lower than that to throw those baits. Only problem is that the MBR rods can't be found here, there's only one MBR model carried over here and it's the conquest, comes with a pretty l...

Heavy hard bait rod
Hi guys, Over here once again for some rod advice. I'm looking for a rod to throw primarily full size walking baits (vixens, 130 rovers, super spooks, etc...) would be nice if I could also use for some other stuff like paddle tails or chatterbaits. I'm currently using a 7' MH moderate AvidX, length ...

G Loomis power ratings
Hi everyone, Looking for some advice to try to understand a bit better the power ratings of the GLX and NRX line. I mainly own shimano rods expride and poison adrena and really am struggling to get my head around g Loomis power ratings. For example the nrx 854 is marked as heavy but has almost the s...

I'm still amazed that high end rods don't ship somewhat balanced...
I mean my 7.3 XH expride is better balanced than a 6.8 mh st croix LT.

Re: What line for NRX 852c?
Don't have that particular rod, but use a similar setup for one of my exprides and run 10lb invisX on it. I don't fish heavy cover with a medium powered rod, and the hooks on these types of baits are pretty light wire you you don't need crazy hooksets. Both braid to leader and straight fluoro would ...

Re: Rod balance Loomis / St Croix
Thanks guys for all the input. I have to admit I'm not very good at tinkering with my rods, I probably could balance the St Croix better but not in a very aesthetically pleasing way. Will probably just put my LT up for sale eventually and go for a model that you recommended. Once again thank you for...

Rod balance Loomis / St Croix
Hi guys, Came here to look for some help, I'm from France and very few shops have high end rods in stock, so it's very tough to actually get a feel before buying. Last year i ordered a St Croix legend tournament (old model) Jig n Worm, little did I know that the balance is pretty bad, it just feels ...

Re: Braid vs Fluorocarbon as main line
Hi, I live in France, a lot of people around tend to use braid too, mainly because good quality mono and fluoro is extremely expensive and hard to find. Most of my fishing is done with mono / copoly / fluoro, I truly hate braid for anything that isn't frogging. Some people may enjoy the lack of stre...

Removing 1 hook from baits with 3 trebles
Hi everyone, Looking for some help here, seem to be quite stuck with this one. In France the max number of hooks you can have on a bait are 2. Most of the large topwaters un jerkbaits to some extend come with 3 trebles on them. I gather the most sensible option is removing the middle treble. On jerk...
