Re: Looking for a casting rod for trout but with power, BFS?

There are lots of good rodbuilders up your way. Do a google search for rodbuilders. Heck, I know a guy relatively close in Olympia WI who does great work. (At least, I THINK that's in your back of the woods). I'm in Chicagoland. I don't know any personally but I'm sure there are a rod builders in m...

Re: Looking for a casting rod for trout but with power, BFS?

Time to go custom 👌 I was resisting the urge to make the same suggestion, because theres always a learning curve when you venture into custom rods. I've had upwards of 40 different customs built, and currently only have 4 in my possession. I sold off the rest, because they weren't exactly what I wa...

Re: Looking for a casting rod for trout but with power, BFS?

Thanks for the replies guys, a lot of useful info and experiences. I was afraid most BFS rods would be too stiff, or fast, as they are made mostly for small rubber jigs and plastics. What I had seen in the trout rods were rods too short for my liking and perhaps not powerful enough to throw the 1/4o...

Looking for a casting rod for trout but with power, BFS?

I'd like to find a rod to fish 1/8oz to 1/4oz inline spinners and some small hardbaits. Real weight of the lures range from 4g to 8.2g with 90% of the time spent throwing the 1/4oz spinners, so sweet spot around 7g. The main target would be trout in small to mid size streams. I currently use a ML mo...

I got a reel shipped into the US last week from Japan. Shipped via fedex and arrived quick as usual.

Re: Any 2020 Shimano reel leaks.....

Anyone know the handle lengths on the USDM models? I see 84mm for the JDM models with a 90mm handle on the JDM XG.

Keep running into crappie burning a lipless over grass in the small ponds and lakes still open around here. Ended up catching my pb at a hair over 15" yesterday evening.

Re: snapped plastic pin found inside reel

A whole day on this Daiwa heavy forum and no one has responded to this post? [-X This happened to my buddy's Tat SV too. @heddonfrog, not sure if that works. Those pins support the inductor ramp or something on the SV spool(I'm not a big Daiwa guy so I can't be sure of the specifics). He just sent h...

Re: Let's see that backlash!

Been awhile, but it's back https://i.imgur.com/fWNIDWBl.jpg This one wasn't salvageable . Pitching a little finesse jig and the hook caught my knit glove. Ended up being a blessing in disguise as the other rod I brought with me was a chatterbait rod. Pond bass were all over it on a 38 degree cl...

Re: What’s on your Reel’s Foot

Depending on thickness and allowance of install, cut some non hermatic "non glue lined" heat shrink to the desired length and slip on and shrink away; allowing a small portion to pass the edge of the foot on both ends of the foot... This is what I do. I use a lighter to fold down the end, thickens ...

Re: Rod for Steez

Put it on the nrx for jigs and senkos. I used an sv tw sh for jackhammers on an nrx 843 once or twice in a pinch and I felt way too many vibrations through the reel. Used a steez a sh instead just so my hand wouldnt go numb after awhile.
