Re: One Texas rig/small rig jod
senko to me means 5 inch most days. my old BSR 852 with 15# braid fishes this like gold, my NRX 893 in second place. best senko and light t-rig rod, I have to say NRX 893. I think the spinning gear has some advantage in fall of a Senko but for accuracy and fishing all day I have to go with the casti...

Re: GLX803s or IMX-Pro803s
in my prior boat, I had rod storage issues and loved the 803 format. both the old GLX and NRX were great. my 7ft rods did nothing more. 1/2 oz was the max for these rods but the lighter presentations were the bomb on these rods and what I fished on them. Shakey heads, t-rigs and light jigs. simplly ...

Re: Spinning rod for throwing LC Pointer 78?
i have not thrown this bait since at least 2015 and most likely 2014 as I fish Florida mostly now but the bait in KY in March and April was so legit. I recommend you consider a loomis mbr 6'6 m baitcasting rod, 10# FC line and a baitcaster such as a mg50 in a new model. I find the 78 plenty heavy to...

Re: senko rod revisited: Spinning or Casting
typically I fish the NRX 893 with 5 inch senko's in light vegitation. The cover can be a tad bit heavier then what the BSR852 can handle and not wear me out. I think having one's hand under the rod/using a casting rod is a mechanical advantage to wrestling fish in vegitation as is the longer rod. Ho...

Re: senko rod revisited: Spinning or Casting
For those using the OG BSR 852, does anyone know if its characteristics are identical (or at least very similar) to the new GLX 852? Anyone using the 892/3 S for senkos? I don't have a clue but I bought the NRX 852s at one point and sold it to keep the old BSR. The BSR 852 was a purpose built rod a...

Re: senko rod revisited: Spinning or Casting
And speaking of cover, I choose casting over spinning for pitching accuracy around cover which is the only area I'm throwing weightless Senkos in the first place. I moved to casting because of accuracy as well. Actually I think I was trying to lip a 3# bass on spinning gear when the hook came out a...

Re: senko rod revisited: Spinning or Casting

Re: senko rod revisited: Spinning or Casting
I fished the old Loomis BSR 852 Senko rod this week down in South Florida. Likely had not picked up a spinning rod in 6 years. Had situation where I was catching them on a spinning rod but not my normal baitcaster. Only difference in equipment was 20# braid on the spinning rod vs 40# braid on the b...

Re: VMC Hook Eye Epoxy?
got it,
been a while since I've been in that postion but I recall finding a knot that was bigger and helped prevent my braid from slipping out. Never had this issue with the Gammy's I don't think until I became straight braid guy
