I’ve got the CNQ 844 and CNQ 905. The 905 doesn’t fish like a heavy power rod, but it’s stout. What a great tip. The 844 prolly does 95% of what I need to do for those presentations.
But having the 905 is nice when I wanna chuck a 1oz jig or 1.5 - 2oz swim bait.
An 873 MBR would be nice…

Re: Conquest 782s
Yep- NFC blank. it’s a “Light Medium Heavy /Mod Fast”. Can’t remember the lure rating right now. I used that rod for the exact presentations and man oh man the 782c just transmits everything. Not a fair comparison- $200 vs. $730. I’ve got access to the same Mag2 spinning rod and it’s more sensitive ...

Re: Conquest 782s
Not sure, but I would imagine they use the same blanks for casting/spinning. Others with more(better) knowledge will hopefully chime in. I’d get it in a heartbeat for that price. As I mentioned, the tip is more a mod fast instead of fast. My preference is for a mod fast on those lures. My wife’s dit...

Re: Conquest 782s
I have the 782c and it's moved to the top of my rotation. Use it for topwater (up to 1/2oz), jerkbaits, and cranks (DT-6) as well as Ned rigs (tip is prolly too soft). Alderbaran 50 with 10# braid/leader.
Unfortunate part- my wife has also decided this is her favorite combo.

Re: What’s your spinning setup to have ready?
Wow, a lot of the Steez 76MML (both gens) rods on this list.
Had a gen 1, loved it then I didn't. That's the only rod (knock on wood) that got destroyed during shipping. Ugh. Maybe I should look at the gen2.....

Re: What’s your spinning setup to have ready?
<tangent> The Cashion factory is about an hour away from me. We went to an all day seminar they hosted a few months ago (inshore focused) and it was very good. Had four or five guides talk as well as having a factory tour. They also served some amazing BBQ (one of his team leads cooked) and pies. W...

Re: What’s your spinning setup to have ready?
The Vanford.. technical marvels aside: 1. Not as smooth as the Stradic FL or CI4+ FB or the Luvias LT (Japan made). 2. Light, very light, but 'cheap' feeling. The Ci4 feels more solid. We originally got this reel for the TideMaster- as soon as we put it on, we quickly realized it wasn't a match. The...

Re: What’s your spinning setup to have ready?
Lots of great setups posted so far. Right now I have: 1. Cashion Icon MedLight 7’ w/Luvias LT 3000. For finesse (Ned’s, drop shot, etc.). 2. Cashion Icon Med 7’ w/Vanford 3000. For small cranks, bigger Ned rigs, shakey heads, etc.. 3. Sitting in the rack: a CNQ 842s w/Stella FJ 2500. Wondering where...

Re: Steez “the one”
That’s a great combo, congrats.
I had the gen1 of the 76mml and enjoyed it (with an Exist 3000) but the length just wasn’t my cup of tea. I went with a Steez SVF 7’ and for me, that was better.
Please post a follow-up after your trip and tight lines!

Re: Jig rod selection
Basically want to get deep quickly.
Thanks for the recommendations... whittling down the list! Definitely want to limit overlap on the 844c so those two (905c and Steez XH) fit the bill. They're 'big boy' rods for sure.

Jig rod selection
Getting back into freshwater (from inshore / fly fishing) and I need a rod for 3/4oz jigs and trailers. Have a CNQ 844c with a Met MGL and 14# Sniper. That may not be enough rod. I have the below rods* to mate with a Bantam MGL B 6.2: 1. CNQ 905c 2. P5 Tequila Baccarac 3. Steez SVF AGS H 7'6" 4. Ste...

Line recommendation- Conquest 782c and Aldebaran HG
As the title suggests, looking for line suggestions. Would be doing top water and some plastics with it. Currently has Sniper 10# and its actually pretty good match. However, about 30-40% of the time will be using this combo inshore (speckled trout). Was thinking braid, maybe 10# PowerPro SuperSlick...

Re: Found my new favorite setup for specks
It was off the shelf, but I haven’t seen it online. 7’3” Medium/Mod Fast. And a 7’3” MH Mod Fast. Gosh those rods are amazing. Also a 7’ Med Light Mod Fast spinning. Yeah, I like a slower action. The Castaway is working really good on the spinning. For bait casting I’m using mono for top water. I ma...
