Solid tip rod
I'm looking at getting a new Shimano Expride spinning rod with a solid tip. For those who have solid tip rods, is there really an advantage ? And what is it exacly ?

Re: Things You Have NEVER Tried
Interesting thread. I haven't tried some of the super finesse tactics, but I have tried many techniques most unsuccessfully and some successfully. Sometimes, you've got to give it time. I tried the Ned Rig 20 years ago when it was mentioned in a well known magazine (half a Senko on a mushroom head ...

Re: Things You Have NEVER Tried
I like to experiment. I've tried everything already mentionned and some more. Name something and I'm willing.

Re: Reel for this
Not really. Just make sure the one you get can be put in gear by raising the thumb bar with your thumb. My newer Curados can do that.

Re: Reel for this
I bottom bouce for walleyes. The reels I liked in the past were the ones from Shimano with Instaguage, a special thumb bar with two ends, a type of flipping switch. You could disengage and engage the reel just by pushing on the thumb bar to free the reel, then pushing the other end to engage the ree...

Re: Light and Long Cranking Setup
Maybe a L to ML Shimano sea bass offering? Those lengths in casting rods for tiny plugs are more common in salt rods. You might when find some inshore rods from domestic brands too. That's a great idea. Maybe not as long as you would like but the in the new GLF Inshore series from Shimano there is ...

Re: Light and Long Cranking Setup
The closest to that Reaction Cumara that I see would be ZDC76MA - a Zodias series rod at 7' 6'' in medium ( moderate action) rated for 1/4 oz and up.

Re: Recommendations for a hairjig rod
I've got a couple that I use for 1/8 oz marabout jigs that never touch bottom and both are 7' 6'' Light. The more expensive one is a 901 S Loomis NRX that gives me the most distance; the second one is a Curado L 7'6'' spinning rod that is great for the price. These are used on flats to throw light j...

Re: Small paddle tail rod… 76 preferred
The Expride is a good choice but if your budget is a bit more limited you could go with a 7 foot 6 L rod from the newest Curado series from Shimano. I have one and it's one of those '' The ONE rod''. How I’d the action of this rod? Could it handle 3/8 plus a roughly 3in plastic? Occasionally fish 3...

Re: Forward Facing Sonar and Co Anglers
Just the opposite for me. When using FFS, most of the fishing is done in open water with plenty of room to cast. There might be some fish in front but these fish move more in open water. The worst is going down a shoreline weedline and fishing from the back. You are always fishing ''used'' water.
