Would you replace the DC module with a VBS on the spool shaft in that case?

Might be an odd question but is it possible to replace the spool in a 2003 or 2009 Conquest DC series with a non-DC spool? Basically want to know if I can convert an old DC frame into a functional non-DC reel.

On paper it sure seems that the gear sets should interchange between all of the 300 and 400 size models of both the 15 Conquest and Ocea Conquest, would be a really nice option for the big bait guys (swimbaits/muskie/et...

Will the 4.8:1 gear set from the Conquest Ocea 300PG swap into the new Conquest 400? I'd like to run a new 400 with a lower gear ratio and these appear like they may work. Has anyone tried this yet to confirm?
